Has anyone given any thought to running a power steering box from a Right Hand Drive IFS rig for Crossover steering?
I am moving my cab back on the frame so the right front cab mount will then foul the box but if i had a LH Drive box i could mount it on the inside of the frame and it would also then give more clearance to the pitman arm to spring.

Im in Aus so im talking about using a LH Drive box but you guys in the US would need a RH Drive box.

Anyone tried this or thought about it?

I use an inside the frame saginaw box in my zuk, custom frame though..............sounds like you have an idea there, but the ifs boxs are working out fine with a little body mount trim, I dought it's worth the $ to import a box from OZ,...... if they were readly available here I bet someone would try.

For you to swipe a LH box to put on an Oz truck, yeah, should work, but the draglink will be awfully short. It'd have to be a truck with no AC, though, and the steering shaft might try to mate with the intake.

For us to swipe a RH box to put on a US truck, no... the exhaust is on that side. No good way around, that I'm aware of, plus the alternator and water pipe are on that side.

Yeah i had thought of the prob of the lower rad hose for you guys.
Im not thinking of this idea for my Dual Cab i have just started on a 4runner frame with a 4.3 in it and using an '86 extra cab body mounted back 3 inches on the frame and up 2" to try clearing 37/38 tyres a bit better.

Ps; My steering shaft already mates with the intake :mad: thats why we never got EFI 22Rs in a pickup over here but tilting the engine over to the left and a bit of grindage on the manifold sort of fixes that :D

There is one that KLF is selling in the 4sale section at $125, Have you looked into a cressida box, it I belive mounts on top of the frame, at least over here. I just remember hearing talk of it on a email list a few years back, I would look at making something you can pick up local, in case you need another if you break it....Good Luck.

cressida boxes are apparntly weak, tony i was looking at an hq prem the other day, take alook at there steering box. i cant see why it wouldnt work and they mount on the inside of the frame.

better off getting one out of canada as the exchange rate is better.
