I'm planning on installing a rear winch over the winter and have a few questions.

1. What manufacturer would you recommend
2. What strength winch 1500, 2000, 3000 lbs
3. What type of line steel or synthetic

Thanks for the help.

always get a winch that can pull 1.5 - 2 times the weight of your rig.
steel line is cheaper than synthetic.

Are you using this for recovery or for your suspension? and what is it going on?

It will be used for suspension. It will be going on a TJ.

1500 should be enough just to pull you down. Thats what I am running on my TJ. Just mount it right above the rear axle and you better be confident in your welding ability or you sill get embarrased when you are on the trail and pull your hook-ring off the axle...
