: 52 inch Chevy Springs on a Scout II

Seems like the 52 inch Chevy spring is commonly used on the 80-800 but didn't see much on Scout II?

I've got a set of 2 1/2 inch lift pro comps of the front of a Blazer and wondering if anyone has used something like this front or rear on a Scout II?

I think 2 1/2" Chevy springs will raise your truck 4 1/2" if I am correct.

There's a thread here somewhere about chevy springs on a scout but I failed at the search

I think the thread you're referring to (as well as the lift numbers you're recalling) was talking about using Chevy springs on an IH fullsize truck... not a Scout.

I have 52" Chevy springs under the front of my Scout II. They were sagged out stock rear springs from a 1983 2wd Chevy PU. Lots of flex -- very minimal lift. Smooth ride....

I put mine directly under the frame - which made my spring width a little tricky to mount my axle, but I made it work.

I have pics somewhere...

63" Springs

http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=576920I was familar with the 63 on the rear and plenty of room.

What I am worried about with 52's up front is how much farthere the fangs have to go forward.

http://ihsto.org/pirate/springs2.JPGWell that kind of answers my question on how far the front of the spring is going to extend. This scout is already set up reverse shackle, by the looks of your shackles it looks like I'll need a couple more inches forward for the fangs.

Take a look at Jeff's line of CPT reverse shackle bracket at IHOnly North. They have a forward slant to them so they might give you the extra length you need.

These are 48's but should give you an idea of what Jeff's mount would help you do

Maybe some dog legged shackles in the rear and Jeff hangers up front and they might just fit in there. The issue is the body mount, but you could do a frame through right in the middle of the body mount and for sure they would fit. As for fangs, did you want the spring eyes level? I got pictures of when I was thinking of using some 52" up front if you need to see them let me know and I will find em.

The body mount is a serious problem - I had forgotten that little tid bit. I ended up cutting mine off :flipoff2: They were rusted out and sagging already so off they came.

http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k240/chadmaycroft/Picture2043.jpgI took for granted the front Blazer springs were also 52 inch like the rear. They are not! They are 47 and a little off the truck so I'm sure they are the same as you posted. With the body mount issue I think I'm going to do exactlt what you pictured. Thanks Chad! and everyone! :flipoff2:

Cool, those are actually Rancho springs for the 3/4 - 1 ton trucks, 4 inch lift. The part# escapes me right now. It was a pretty easy swap and I am really happy with the way they turned out.

This is pretty close to the finished ride hieght with 37" tires. It may settle a little more when the front bumper and odds and ends get installed but should be pretty close.

That Scout is coming out nice, lots of one off mods that show attenton to detail.

I could not read the Rancho spring number on those pics. You still got your build up in the Binder, I think you have a pic of the part number there.

heres the Rancho specs on page 217

The issue for me was the axle would not be moved forward enough to clear 37" tires. I could have redrilled the pack I guess, but read that springs tend to crack when redrilled. So used offset pack 44044. If the front Blazers are 47" those should fit, but suspect those are center drilled too. Those Scout engines are heavy, so I even added a leaf to my new 44044. I guess some air stops would be nice. I've tore off the last to sets of bump stops:rolleyes:
I got a pair of Jeff stops I could try.

Look up a product called Zero Rate for added lift and moving an axle up to 1 1/2 inches...

I also used the blazer 4 inch lift front springs. I only moved the spring maybe an inch forward.

I've seen these and might have to used them as my 38" tires are rubbing.
I told my self I would never get bigger then 37", but when I needed new tires I got a good deal on some 38" tires
