: Rancho RS5000 valving?

I was looking at Rancho's specs for the RS5000 shocks (http://www.gorancho.com/documents/specifications_2.pdf) and there are 4 shocks (5010, 5112, 5126, 5132) that all use the same top and bottom mounts and are all withing 1/4 inch of each other in compressed and extended lengths. I assume they must be valved differently. So, how do you know whick is stiffest and which are softer?

Thanks
Brett

Reviving old thread. Also curous about Rancho valving. All I've found is that the 5012 is a soft valved shock - all the others are mysteries.

Maybe try and contact Rancho? Will they not disclose this info for some reason? I'd think they'd be willing to give you damping info as its crutial for system design.

5012's are valved for dual shock applications. 5134's are their single valved counterpart. I have ran both.

I'm curious how they get their "10 stages" of valving and what that actually means (if anything?!).

I wonder if they tune with standard valve stacks, or do something more cost effective like simply drill different size holes in a piston. I'm sure a few people around here are in the know. I'm a little curious to tear one apart....

when i put those new ones on i got from you, ill have a set of worn out procomp3000's that im tempted to cut open... i wonder if they are similiar to the ranchos
