Hey guys got a 85 runner SR5. Building it to be used as a daily driver and expedition type or rig. Should I keep the four banger which needs rebuild or install 4.3 and 700R. Would have the tranny and motor rebuild also. So what do yall think?
Thanks Darby

sorry for the screwed up spelling and stuff. It will be a daily driver and touring and traveling rig with some minor towing I already have 33 with a 4in lift and all new poly body mounts. I also have the flexlite elec fan kit. Other then that it is all stock.
Thanks Darby

Hey thanks Seabass. I already got a 85 4.3 carbed motor. Plan on using a mild cam with a little head work and edelbrock intake and carb. Ededlbrock claims 202 ponys and 260lbs on stock 4.3 with there intake and carb, with some headers. Hey anybody know who sells those cool looking sanderson headers?
Thanks Darby

I even have a 350v8 sitting here. Things that make you go hummm. Guess that would mean body lift and more tire.:rasta:

go with the 4.3. its a pain in the ass but well worth the work. i stuffed a 96 tpi with the 4L60e into an 83 with stock running gears and 33's. I pull a two axle car trailer with 3 quads easily and it keeps up with wifes 98 mustang gt off the line. SWEET!!

I agree with 2stroke, if the 4cyl is efi keep it. I would never swap a carb'd motor into an efi rig!!!!!!!! All those pony's will do you no good when your carb is hiccupping on a hill of sidehill.

I need info about getting my '94 4.3L w/ 4L60E auto tranny hooked up with exhaust.
What did you use for the exhaust manifold and down -pipe?

I had AA send me a set of headers for that application, although they didnt fit they got me close and we worked things out from there. I think the guys name was Ken, he was a big help working with me and making sure I got what I needed.
From there I had a guy here in Louisiana named Boudrau do my exhaust. From the collectors it runs down the drivers side staight back, the passengers side runs under the trans oil pan and into the drivers side pipe ensuring it cooks the oil and is now all dented up from the front drive shaft. So learn from my mistake and dont let Boudrau do your exhaust. All O2 sensors were installed.
