: Buildup Questions....

Okay, first I would like to ask for no flames, but I know that's impossible here :flipoff2: . Anyway, my dad is looking to build up an '86 Runner. We plan to take off the top and put a cage in there, so that won't be an issue. He's looking to get between 33's to 35's (he's just starting, I don't have him fully addicted yet), and we're most probably gonna do an SAS. My question is: what would you do if you had these constraints, within a somewhat limited budget. I'm looking for the suspension setup that will be the most useful and user-friendly. Thanks in advance for the help.

That and hit the for sales and wanted sections for the item you will need, when you got it all together then do the swap. You can save a lot if you are on a tight budget as well as do it right, everything you want to know has been asked and is under the search button.

I have done the search, I was just wondering what the general opinion was on where to go with this buildup. I know that 90% of you can answer this question with about 30 seconds of effort, seeing that it's opinion and all. So it was either waste 30 seconds of your time (which you'd waste drooling over CTM's or Super Birfs anyway :flipoff2: ) Or waste an hour or more seeing how everyone had done their rig, without any idea as to how well it worked compared to others.

Here's what I'd do:

-Spool the rear end
-All Pro front springs (wow, I actually said it)
-Chevy's in the rear with a buggy, forget about double shackles
-Make your own hangers for the SAS, unless you have limited fab skills

You can do this relatievely inexpensively, but it will take time to find all of teh parts at a good price. Make sure you ahve everything before you start cutting. You can weld on all of teh hangers before you cut also. Find a friend with the all pro shackle jig.... but I would locate the sleeve about .5-1" forward of where they say to put it, but I think that the body mount is then in the way.

thanks. I have a friend with a fab shop that is going to do any fab work. I was just looking for the general direction to go in, as I'm a zuki guy, rather than a yota expert. Not that I'm any good at either, but with toyota there seems to be more options as to what to do.
