I know this is a newbie question and all but I dont have a FSM, all I have is the parts store special. All it says about adjusting the fuel mixture in my book is that it is set from the factory and there is a pin or somehting put in it and it should not be changed except for by a toyota certafied mechanic:rolleyes:

Also, anything else besides idle and timing that I can adjust to make it run smoother, lemme know.:D

It faces the passenger side of the truck. Its a plug that covers the adjusting screw. I drilled a little hole and used a screwdriver to pry it out.

Th mixture wont affect smoothness. My recommendation is dont mess with it unless you have done some mods that increase intake airflow - filtercharger, larger bore throttle body etc.

The AFM is adjusted by removing the black plastic plate on top of it, and adjusting the screw one or two teeth, no more. Be sure to mark the gear in its original location - if you let it loose, you'll play hell getting adjusted back right if you dont mark it.

LCE has a good technote on how to do it:

More than a tooth or two with a stock intake system, and you are gonna cause yourself more grief than improvement.

Smooth running is greatly affected by the EGR.

ya sorry, carb. Keep the advice coming. Bumping up the idle to about 1000K helped a lot but what happens now is it idles good for about 2 minutes than just chokes out. Also, if you rev it up, it comes down smooth and just dropps past idle and dies. This is why my brother and I thought it was too rich...

This is TyTy again...

Im thinkin it has something to do with the fact that I used a low pressure electric fuel pump. The holes on my head were stripped for the stock fuel pump. Might be rough running cause that pump is not adjusting to engine speed like the stock mechnical pump would.

I have heard of people having good results from electric pumps though so it has to solvable.

thanks again
