Most of those places are out of kits.
Those that have them
$270 for a rommi parts kit :shaking:
$300 for a kit without a barrel :barf:
I should of just held onto all of my 70$ kits and sold them now instead of building rifles out of them

1. 6 months ago, those kits were $150.
2. IMHO - you're better off spending $350 on an off-the-shelf gun at a local shop or show.

Even at $200 for a kit...
Add $15 for shipping.
Add $30 for a compliance kit.
Add $17 for a flat

You're now up to $262 and you still haven't built the receiver (bending, welding, heat treating), got any magazines, or assembled the whole thing. Add in a pair of magazines for $30 shipped, and now you are right at $300 in parts... unassembled.

IMHO - by that point - another $50-$100 to have a gun that goes bang from a store ain't such a bad idea... and that is coming from a cheap-ass like me :p

Nothing wrong with the $200 kits, if you can find them anymore. Thing is, I built my whole AK for less than 200, and that was probably 6 months ago.

If you just want an AK to have one, and hope they are grandfathered in, buy one from a shop at this point. I built mine mainly because it was cheaper, but also it's not registered to anywhere. I guess they could find the receipts from the parts, but nothing says I ever built the thing. The parts got sold along with the rest of my guns, because Obama will take care of us ;)

You've got a point...

then again - I'll continue to maintain that if we get to the point where they come to my house asking for a specific weapon with xxxxxx serial number - we're way past the point of it really mattering all that much whether the gun is legal or not.
