The Cannondale Genesis (currently 10% off which will cover the cost of a 5th element rear shock) or the Santa Cruz Bullit? Let me know if I'm overlooking a bike.;)

They're both great companies.. some people swear by C-dale, and they love them. Lifetime warranty too. I like SC, it's a little cheaper, and it gets the job done. Stout frames, and they're local. However, I haven't ridden too many c-dales, so I can't really compare the two. Are you building it yourself, or going to find a complete bike?

Complete bike. I have been a C-Dale guy for about 8 years. I will test riding both later this afternoon.:D

You can't lose with either one of those frames. I have ridden both, and I liked them. Don't forget the Balfa BB7. I am not sure of the price difference, but it is one of the best bikes ever made. If I was to spend money on a frame, it would be the Cannondale.

For a freeride/downhill bike? The frame is about 5lbs, kinda lightduty for freeride/downhill he asked about...


I'd go with the bullit, or maybe pony up some more cash and get an Intense Uzzi SLX...

I know it costs a lot, but I road my friends Joker in Pacifica. That bike rocks! It is heavier than my Rocky Mountain, but it pedals uphill very well, and with about 6" it handled the big drops with ease. It made me want to buy a new bike. :D

P.S. Pacifica was fantastic. I can't remember the trail name but it was an overgrown single track with some big rock drops. It was paved road climb and wooded downhill. I can't wait to go back and try it on my X-country bike.

Test rode them yesterday and the Cannondale turns into a noodle when you stand and sprint. So needless to say in 6-8 weeks I'll be the proud new owner of the Santa Cruz Bullit, 5th Element shock and the Marzochhi Super T fork, all black of course.:D
