Alright, I have spent the better part of two hours trying to figure out what I am going to do. I have a 1980 Scout D300 to bolt onto my Jeep t18. I can get my hands on a t19 out of a scout (unknown year). I would like to run the t19 and utilize the 6.32:1 1st gear. Will the t19 bolt up to my d300. I know that they will bolt up to other year D300's, but I am unsure about the 1980. Do I grab the t19, or seach for a ford t18 and swap the gears etc. into my Jeep t18?

Do you have the Scout D300 manual bull gear? The Scout D300 does not bolt to the T19, it bolts to the adapter that bolts to the T19. So, you will need a T19 married case, the T19 to Scout D300 "texas" adapter and the T19 must have a 6 spline threaded output shaft. As far as I know, the only T19 with the 6 spline threaded output shaft is one from a Scout.

...the T19 to Scout D300 "texas" adapter...

should the dana 20 adapter work too?

I recommend trying to find a T-18a w/ the 6.32:1 first that came out of a CJ, if you can find one (getting rare) - The Scout Dana 300 will bolt to it (as mentioned, you need the correct manual tranny bull gear)

The Ford T-18 will be trouble when trying to bolt a scout dana 300 to it - either the output shaft will not be correct for the D300 bull gear, or the adapter between the tranny and transfer case isn't correct. I'm not 100% on this though. Most folks just buy the AA or Novak adapter for the CJ Dana 300 and go that route.

The IH T-19 has a long input shaft, and different bell housing bolt pattern, as compared to a CJ T-18, and the IH bell housing will not bolt to the AMC motor. I'd recommend staying away from the IH tranny. Also the IH adapter between the tranny and transfer case does not have the transmission mount boss on it (the CJ one does)

I am running the CJ T-18a in my jeep, and an IH D300 - it's been a good combo.

A Scout D300 will bolt in-place anywhere a "texas style" D20 was (i.e. Scouts and Jeeps).

The Bull gear has to match the output shaft, but with most manuals that will be 6-spline as Mech pointed out. Scout t-18's and t-19's share this output (married cases). I don't know about Jeep units but I think they do to.

If you can make the front of the IH t-19 work where your t-18 is, then you're good to go. You might also want to research t-18 swaps for jeeps. IIRC you combine the ford stuff and a Scout (or jeep I suppose) trannys to get your wide gears and non-long IH input. But I don't know the details cause I've never had to deal with it.

Just find a Jeep T-18 (post 76) with an adapter for the 6-1 ratio.

EDIT just saw sjsst41 post above.
