I want to move my axle forward to make room for some 42's.
Will it work if I drill the springs and move the pin 1.5-2" and then drill the perches another 1" to move the forward?
Will this effect anything?
I'm running 44044's.

IT WILL NOT WORK....................

YOUR ANGLE OF ATTACK WILL BECOME TO DIFFICULT TO OVERCOME THE TRANSVERSE SECTION OF THE DECOMBINATION PURSE.  :D

The main problem you will have is that the tire will probably hit the bottom of the battery box area something worse than if you just moved the firewall back a bunch. Of course moving the battery would be simple compared to all the other mods you have made.

I redrilled the pad on the axle on mine without a problem. Ive also drilled a whole in the top main leaf and moved the remaining leaves and bolt forward before. With some spring packs that might not work because the main leaf may bend or sag. Worked for me though:D

I have redrilled springs before without a problem.

I feel that as long as the old holes are in the "spring pad" area and not experiencing too much flex, you should be fine.

These puppies are HELL to drill, so saddle up.

I just drill those that cannot be repositioned. I just move the short ones to the new holes in the long leafs.

Nawwww...... take a masonary bit and sharpen it with a grinder, go slow with some cutting oil, and it drills just as easy/fast as any other steel.

Instead of drilling, you can also use offset plates from M.O.R.E.

I want to move it forward more then the plates will allow. I'm thinking like 2".

Just a thought, most springs already have an offset pin....would turning the spring around be an option?

i think the 44044's have the pin forward, so if i turned them around it would move the axle backwards.

youre gonna have to move your box forawrd too! if you add a bit longer perch on your axle youll be able to use that for movement instead of drilling the spring--yikes

I'm planning on running the tie rod in back of the axle, so i don't think i'll need to move the box.
I want to drill the springs and the perces to move it 2-3" forward sucka:flipoff2:

I made my own plates and moved my front axle 2". I made plates for top and bottom, and extended them about 1" to make sure the spring hole was stabilized to help keep it from fatiguing and breaking.

will the spring become weak and crack @ the original hole?

I don't think that would be a problem.
