As far as just side panels and a hood, this is mine.

Here's my bastard child, still in the works. The hood is a old cut down Ford Bronco fiberglass hood. Thinking about using this stuff for the side panels. http://www.speedwaymotors.com/p/1557,221_Colored-Plastic.html

That might be a little soft, even though it's 1/8" thick.

I have roll that I think is 50' in black i'll sell you cheap. Bought to use for my side panels but scored some Lexan later.

That plastic stuff doesn't look as good as metal panels when new. It's hard to get completely flat, and when light shines on it, you can see the ripples.

That said, it will look a lot better after a year of bashing on rocks than metal will!!

Everything is a compromise.

I have been very impressed with the looks of my lexan "graphic wrapped" panels. After 6 months of abuse I can clean them and they look great.

I was thinking of using that plastic stuff also..... BUT .... I was thinking of putting it over expanded metal?? would that help it lay flat?

Well if you have the recessed side panels the plastic should live longer. That stuff from the race shops looks pretty crappy after you get it out in the sun for awhile. It gets WaVy bad. It might look better if you 'backed' it with something though.

our first set of panels were the thin stuff. it held up well for a few years then started geting holes in it slap a sticker over it and keep going. We have also used TG panels witch are good stuff we just scored a set from tool box guy(western fab) very nice stuff
