Few quick questions,
I searched and didnt find any foumula toy builds using a 2nd gen 4runner frame. I have access to a free 93 4runner and I was wondering if someone could give me a little info on using this frame verses a truck frame. Thanks in advance.

Doublecheck the build threads. I think car 48 is based off of a IFS 4runner.

Looks like it was IFS, but a 1st gen runner.

I ASSume there would be quite a few more brackets and crap to cut off the frame for a 2nd gen runner. Overall length should be about the same. Newer, so less rust. Goferit!!
A 1st gen or 84-85 2nd gen pickup frame will have higher arched wheel wells, so you could keep your rig a bit lower with that frame. 2wd pickup frames also had higher arches in the frame at the front wheel wells.

2nd generation 4runners have a shit load of brackets on the rear suspension that would be a PITA to remove...the rear on those trucks is like twice as hard to clean up as a standard front SAS because of all the factory bracketry...look for a different frame, or buy a cubic butt load of flapper wheels and a few sets of plasma torch tips...
not to discourage you, nothing wrong with those frames, just a lot more work to clean it up and have it look nice...

I say if its free, use it, a little extra time cleaning up a frame aint no big deal.

I use plas or torch then clean with an air hammer with chisel blade shaprened on the belt sander. Get earplugs and work far away from other people. Use about 4 air chisel blades and use each for 15 minutes of chiseling then resharpen. You'll be amazed how clean this gets the frame and how little you have to grind. I can clean an entire frame in a few hours.
Or........I can bring you a nice SWB rust free "cleaned" early (solid axle) frame on my way to the KOH in Feb. for $250.
