I'm new to the board, I am installing a new intake on a 350 Chevy, it looks like it is pretty staight forward. Is there any pointers that anyone has or things to look for?

More questions, I keep getting different oppinions about using the front and back gaskets, or replacing them with silicone.
Any oppinions about which way to go?

Put anything on the side gaskets (silicone around the water jackets)?

put something to keep the crap out of the lifter valley
clean the surface of old adhesive as much as possible
run a fat bead front and back and run it up the heads a bit. Put a little bit around the water jackets. drain some coolant beforehand so you don't get water in your engine  do interent searches for install help

Be sure to torque the manifold in the proper pattern, and to the proper lb /ft. The pattern/torque directions should be provided with the intake.
