Fri- ran a shit ton of errands. Hung out with the NonPirateScouter.

Sat- worked on jeep. Told owner I was tired of working for free and he needed to come get it. Had to wrap a few things up. Felt bad admitting defeat but whatever, I'm free of shop responsibilites now. Played board games with the NonPirateScouter.

Sun- went to work only to be sent home because of no work. WTF i go from working 6 12's to 4 8's in 3 weeks:mad3::mad3::confused: I'm looking for a new job now. Anybody know of any good welding jobs open on the west coast, let me know:shaking: Stopped taking my anti-depressants too so if you dont hear from me in a few weeks, start looking for me.

What did you worthless fuckers get done?

I'm sure some data logging would give you the answer. If you ever wheeled the thing, you wouldnt think the FI is stupid:flipoff2:

Thanks to Chris Keck for hauling it up, I had the chance to drive 250 miles to JetFxr's and 250 miles back on Saturday, so I could pay my first first-person visit to the new racer chassis and visit with Dana and Westfab.

Hauled a pair of doors to Bozeman on my way back, for a buddy's new 2wd 71 F-truck racer (http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=729503). The existing doors were too nice to skin.

Bunch of pics of my new chassis (http://www.tmcom.com/~tsm1/postnuke/index.php?module=mGallery2&g2_itemId=49289&g2_highlightId=49549)

Gotta work up a "to-do" list next and divvy it up between what someone else will do and what I have to do.

One of the first things I need to wrap my head around is whether the transmission needs to be lowered - seems kinda high, considering the engine is lowered a few inches - and the engine being lower means I have to get a 2-piece front shaft in there because it'll never clear the 727 on the up-stroke.

Also need to see how much room is really available behind the seats and in front of the axle - everyone that has seen it thinks the 33gal cell needs to go - or, perhaps a 10-12gal unit needs to be added behind the seats, and run dual tanks.

Run the 12gal for most stuff, and the 33g for anything pushing an hour of run time.

The original thought was that 33gal = ~120-160 mile range. 12gal is more like 50 miles. If I make it down to a "big" event, 250 miles would mean 1 fuel stop, or 5.. but if I run both, it could definitely be one fuel stop at the mid-point, and if it runs short there'd be the 12gal reserve.

Issue with the 33 right now is.. it's just a lot of weight hanging off the tail, when the engine has been shoved back to center the weight.

Also, while the wheelbase is only supposed to 114" (12" added to the rear) the frame is longer. Might opt to mount the "118" quarters flush at the B pillar (like they ordinarily would be) which puts the rear of the wheel opening behind the tires, and the front almost ON the tire.. but after it gets re-radiused for 35s, it won't matter - and there's still some frame poking out the back, so a bumper would still protect the quarters a bit.

Naturally, we didn't get a picture of us holding the quarter up.

Loading it back on a trailer for the trip to Westfab..

Nothing of importance, really. What I need to do and what I feel like doing are completely different things right now.

Maybe it's just the weather but I seem to have lost interest in the project.

On my weekend, I actually worked on an IH, my 74 pickup. After swapping out the crap Isky lifters I installed when I rebuilt the engine, I noticed the fuel filter full of crap. On Tuesday, I ran finished buttoning up the engine and ran new fuel line to a clean gas can and magically the truck fired up and idled just like it should!! After a year of trouble shooting a carb/fuel pressure/vacuum problem, it's been fuel supply all this time being hampered by crap in the tank. To futher prove that's the point after 5 seconds of cranking to get oil moving and 10 seconds of running the old fuel line which I negelected to plug started pumping!!:shaking:

I'll be back at in it a few weeks to clean out the tank and maybe drive the thing.

yeah im going to finally hook up my check engine light (service engine soon?) and see if there are any codes, then do my voltage checks, like a good little boy.

if i could ever get it running decent I would wheel the piss out of it. its close now though.

Don't lie Dan, you have had lots of chances to wheel and you always have something better to do:flipoff2:

You need to hook up your data plug and 'see' what its doing. Your wasting your time with the SES light. I chased my shitty start up problem for a year+, 10 seconds on the laptop and I saw my TPS was bad.

Do it! I'm not dragging your ass back off the mountain cuz you were too lazy to diagnose the problem :mr-t:

Moved a bunch of stuff around and put it all away before winter comes into full force. Replaced a rear cargo floor and inner fenders on a 1965 Scout 800 used the floor from a 1999 F-250 Superduty roll over i rebuilt a few years ago, worked out great, i knew i was keeping that floor for some reason.

Sat. hung around the house did chores.
Sun. When the mountains, worked at my dads place cleaning up and burning. We cut down a bunch of small trees to help create a better fire break during the summer months. Cook hot dogs and apples over the open fire. I grab a downed ceder tree last week and brought that down to my dads place. Also a pic from last weekend mud wheeling.
Found my pinion nut came loose in the front and it F'ed up the gears:shaking:

Christ all mighty!

There is a list of what each wire does and its corresponding pin #. Find the 2 that have data in their name. There is a crap ton of threads on data collection too. All you need is the aldl cable and a laptop that's at least 10 years old. Done and done.

I know your smarter than this Dan :flipoff2:

I've gone wheeling at 4 jack stands before. Bring lots of beer and snacks as the trail might be longer than expected. Don't worry your buds will show up and help themselves to your beer while watching you fix your junk. Got a propane heater? Bring that too, as they won't stay long if it cold out. For yourself set up a 500watt quarts light that will keep you warm when laying under the Scout:eek:

I got 2 wheels off the ground right now, chit better get home and start working on it:rolleyes:
