offroadr35 08-11-2002, 01:51 PM i'm about to start building a buggy and am thinking of going with 404 axles. My question is, how do they stop with the stock drum brakes? Every disc conversion i've seen is way out of my price range. it will be trail only so what do you think? Is there any way to improve braking without going with one of the multi thousand dollar disc conversions? -Steve coachgeo 08-11-2002, 03:35 PM compare the weight of a buggy to a Mog... yep... ur talking nearly a ton maybe two lighter. So your buggy should have little to no stopping problems. weps 08-12-2002, 10:31 AM I plan on installing disc brakes on the front of my 'Mog axle rig. The stock 'mog drums seem as if they are pretty well sealed up. BUT, as experience has shown me with my M715, no matter how well you keep your drum brakes clean/set/adjusted, slime and mud WILL get in there, and then its just like having greased the shoes. The disc brakes I put on that truck were the best investment on the entire rig. I see that you are out west, so maybe you won't get into too much of the nasty black muck we have here in IN. :) Wolfgang 08-15-2002, 02:03 PM Sometimes you have to spend more money to fix your old drum brake set up than to buy a set of disc brakes. The disc brake set comes with the 8lug bolt pattern so you can use the big variety of pick up tires (16" and 16,5"). It´a good investment! www.killeraxles.com | |
