: All this talk about using 44044's but does anyone USE them
attachcurrie 08-11-2002, 01:30 PM I see all these posts on "44044's, where do I get them, this and that" but to those who have them how do they do on the trail? How are they with axle wrap and flex wise?
I think Rockslut was the only one I have seen actually using them and those where driveway shots on that curb.
Thanks!
rkcrawl 08-11-2002, 01:33 PM Bigdude's using them... I'm sure he'll reply.
attachcurrie 08-11-2002, 02:03 PM Thanks. Just curious is all. Need to get springs this week and not sure if 44044's are the route to go or just stock Wagos from JC. Can't find any good information on how they do on the trail just what they do (stretch).
NE-RokToy 08-11-2002, 02:21 PM Lots of toyota guys use them (actually popular with them long before jeepers cought on :-P ) and they flex like mad, and seem to go a long time with out sagging.

the 44044's are rancho's waggy 2.5 lift spring. it get's you about 4" on a yj. I've built more rigs based on those springs than I can count. they are a kick ass set up. they are soft they flex like mad and are very resilient in the way that it takes a lot to f-ck them up. given the proper scenario you could have a spring for life. these are up to that task if you have your wheel base extended out enough that the spring doesn't always see the full weight of the vehicle on it in a side load while being wrapped. you need to run a kick ass wrap bar too or the springs will "s" pretty quick if you wheel hard.

be ready for 150 a spring
attachcurrie 08-11-2002, 03:12 PM 150 a spring? For the 44044's? Wow. What is the cheapest place to get them?
Sillyneck 08-11-2002, 03:22 PM I dunno for sure. I get the mini discount at 4wpw but that's only about $30. cost is cheap...like $80 or something. unless you have a buddy or you yourself gets the discount you may just have to bendover. :( they are good springs and everyone that sells them knows it.
Taso Stambolis 08-11-2002, 04:06 PM summit racing www.summitracing.com is $125 each but someone said they got 4wheel parts to match $100 each . (dunno how true that would be)

I didn't price match, but I did order my 44044's from 4WP last week for $101 each. I've dealt a lot with the same store and get good prices there. They told me it'd be right around $100 ea on the phone. I'm not gonna bitch about $1!!
BTW: I first ordered my springs from JC Whitney - stock 7 leaf HD packs. They said they were in stock. Checked my order on the web a few days later - 1 leafpack was sent, 3 on BO. I cancelled my order. They won't have more in until the 22nd of this month. oh, and it takes a full 10 days to get shipment to Texas!
Chuck
Taso Stambolis 08-11-2002, 06:17 PM ok. gotcha. I wasn't sure of all the details, just the $100 for 44044s part from 4wheelparts
Scout Dude 08-11-2002, 07:04 PM How's this? (hopefully the pic will decide to show up for you...)

1TrickYJ 08-11-2002, 07:10 PM I would like to see some pics of jeeps with these springs. I am running 4" procomp SOA right now on 38.5 TSL's. I would like a little more wheelbase and to lower it down a little for better driveshaft angles. I just need to know how much clearance I will have with these springs. Any pics with 7 leaf HD springs would be nice also.
Thanks

How's this? (once again, it's a crap shoot whether or not the pic will show...all these pics can be found in my WWW link below...)

JeepinIan 08-12-2002, 03:38 AM How much longer are the 44044 than a stock Wrangler spring? I want to go a little taller on my CJ, I already have 2.5 Wrangler springs, SOA.
Will I have to relocate the front spring hanger for the rear springs?
How a bout the front springs, I have a SRS, what I will I need to do there?
bigdude 08-12-2002, 04:58 AM They work well, wraps not too bad if you keep the clamps tight. Here's about the biggest :rainbow: poser shot I have. Taken just for everybody who asks questions about flex. This was not maxing out the suspension but the pipe didn't get any taller. http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid26/p000f5bb7a9c17cea63645c98a3fa4379/fd82c275.jpg
I run 38's and full width 1-tons. My Jeep is pretty light at ~3600 lbs. Without the wide/large axles I think the springs would be too stiff, but they work well with my set-up.
Here's another shot from the trail where you can see some flex

Rat Patrol 08-12-2002, 08:01 AM I'm running them in the rear of my CJ-7 soa on 35's. They do flex well. But dont run them soa w/o a wrap bar. My axle wrap bar got ripped off taking a part of the center section with it. We were about 3 hrs into a weekend wheeling trip, so I added some shims below the pack and continued to wheel the next day and a half. The D44 held together, (kinda)twisted splines on both shafts and bent the pass. axle tube, but bent the top 3 leaves in both packs. This was only the 2nd trip on the springs. These are great springs, the rear flexs much better now than my modified superlift packs I used to run. But dont run them w/o a wrap bar, cause they will bend, and I was taking it "easy" on them after my wrap bar broke.
Just my 2 cent evaluation,
-Jeremy

Poser :flipoff2: Nice shots Matt. I am curious.....what is your wheelbase at? You have 44044's and f150's dont you?
H8monday 08-12-2002, 08:28 PM I run them on the front of my rig.
They are a durable spring, with good flex.
I run mine with clamps open with no problems.
They have been in the rig for over a year.

Yeah, I run the 44044 on the front and F150's rear.
:flipoff2:
Snatch Block 08-13-2002, 05:39 AM Hey SLUT,
do the F150's give you more wheel base like the 44044's do? What is the width of the f150's? Will they bolt right in?
Thanks in advance :flipoff2:

1) They could- but he redrilled them..etc so that they would put his rear at the same location or maybe 1" back farther..I don't remember...
2) 2.5"
3) Nope
...and the reason for my post...is cause he no longer has to stare at a computer all day...so , he probably wouldn't see this post until this evening, if at all....
Keith Strong 08-13-2002, 09:15 AM Do you know what Matt's wheelbase is Joel?

I think it is a c-hair shy of 100" still
The Rockslut 08-13-2002, 04:12 PM Thanks SD.
Yeah my wheel base is just under 100"
I redrilled my RE anti-wrap perches 2" and left the springs alone. I cut off the factory spring mount and welded on a new one about 6" farther forward.
Rudezuk 08-13-2002, 04:29 PM How do you guys keep from wrapping your springs??
I have them on my zuk, and i have bent both front and one rear....
Usually bend them when i am climbing up a wall or a big boulder, or backing up over something big.
I have my shackles in the front...
they seem to bend pretty easy at the clamps...
attachcurrie 08-15-2002, 10:38 AM Does anyone know the specs on Wagoneer springs. There is a local spring maker and thought about seeing how much they would charge. I know they are 2.5" wide but what about length and offset.
Rat Patrol 08-15-2002, 10:55 AM Offset is about 2". Not sure on the length, maybe 47". Depends on if you want eye to eye length or actual spring arch length. There is a list of different spring lengths and offsets somewhere, I just cant find it now. I'm sure someone else will post a link or the specs.

Rudezuk 08-15-2002, 11:00 AM They are 2" longer than a YJ spring.

No more work than it was putting under my zuk!
Just make new mounts.....If you dont want to move your wheelbase you dont have too..
