I have a 2000 Chevy extended cab/Short box silverado 2wd. And my project 85 reg cab/ ,long box Truck. Anyway im thinking of combining them. Is it easyer to Sas the 2000 frame and swap axles. And maybe my sm465/205. Or swap the 2000 body & motor onto the 85 frame. And build the proper body mounts?

Sas it will be. Few questions on this. I want to use my 465/205 if possible. I know the 4.8 has the same bolt pattern. But will a flywheel from a TBI 350 work on the 4.8? Additional how do i get my speed'o to work after i ditch the 4le60? And does the cab at the stock height clear thr top of the 465 or do i need a body lift?

the 4.8L is in the lsx family, there was a thread on this to put a 465 behind a 5.3L, do a search and see what you can come up with....

i seen that but didn't the 5.3 has a different crank where it was never had a manual? So im not sure if i need the spacer..etc or even what flywheel will work.

ive never sas but i have done body swaps i have put a 78 elcomeano (i know the spelling is off) on a streched blazer frame and you should have seen the looks it got. i am curently working on a 91 ex cab s10 on a 77 chevy frame. they were/are both very fun projects its not impossible and the swaps went alot easier because i used the wiring harness out of the one i used the motor from. have fun and hope your project turns out the way you want it :D:D

The 4.8L is a 5.3L with a shorter stroke crank.

The 4.8L in the 4l60 application has the short crank, I think, on it like the 5.3L. But that early of a model it might have the longer one which will work better

But just look at it when you have thr trans out and see if it has the longer crank flange. Then your good to go and should only need the stock 4.8L flywheel, as the crank spacing is the same as the Gen I 350.

I would look for a 5.3L to swap in place of the 4.8L you will have a more power and torque. Most can be had for cheap!
