After all this time...

All it took was a V8, open front diff, and about 20 minutes into the trail :p

http://www.tennessee4x4.com/toyota/images/witc/witc-081102-02.jpg

And getting hauled backwards after the carnage...

http://www.tennessee4x4.com/toyota/images/witc/witc-081102-03.jpg

Also tore off the driver's side mirror, crushed in the door (had to get in/out the passenger side the rest of the day, scraped down the fender and bed side too...

Ahhh.... is a good day!

BTW - I've only had that truck about a week and a half.

It has a 350, TH350, single case, 5.29's, we welded the rear just last night, and 35" BFG muds...

stock steering SUCKS :mad3:

Hey David, your left rear tail light is broke, be sure to get that fixed before you hit the road:flipoff2:

So it's lookin like all the web-wheelers (with the exception of MattS) are startin to come out and play :D :D

It can't be broken when it does not exist :p

And you better check with Matty - his brother bought a rig and he has already been wheeling it too :D

Yup I saw Matts today on the trail. If that was his brothers rig I saw today he broke a J arm. Today was a good day!

David, please, Grab the torch and cut that low hanging thing from the rear bumper...

as for the open diff... I know you broke a birf, but...

Its odd. I wasted an open diff in the rear (V8) and welded up a spare and put it in. I have beat on the welded 3rd way more than I ever beat on the open 3rd, and it has lasted way longer...

I have not broken a birf yet, but I know its coming soon. Maybe next weekend.

You mean my plow attachment? The hydraulic lift on it was broken, so I was usig it to scrape rock all day :p

Seriousl - I haven't even registered the truck yet - I literally bought it last week, put in some gas, welded the rear, wired up one tail light, and loaded it on the trailer to see how it would do :D

I have a bobbed long bed behind the shop I may put on it, and it gets new bumpers in the next week or so as well.

All in good time, all in good time....

Hey Tom, it's Chris with the other 4runner. :D To bad Matt's brother doesn't let him drive it! Loosk like I brought him that IFS PS bx just in time for x-over. Had a blast Sunday. Could you email me an address to ship those seats to? They are for ____ with the tan 4runner. I'm terrible with names!

DRM, nice to see you wheelin' again! No spares I take it? :flipoff2:

At home :p

Like I said - this was a trial "as-is" run only, I didn't bring a single tool. We were at a local off-road park just 30 minutes from home, so all I had to do was get it back to the trailer and I was happy.

I found several things I did NOT like about the truck, and that was the main goal yesterday.

Starting this week I will begin changing things to suit my needs. Springs are one thing that is getting changed ASAP...

Yes, just a temp rig - too many babies around the house to take care of, no time to do a complete ground up build of my 90.

And yes, the 90 was not only nicer, but wheeled 10000000 times better :( Thanks for reminding me.....

I didn't have my camera this weekend but I wheeled on Sunday. We took my bro's truck but I did wheel!! I beat on the XJ all day. He snapped the stock steering arm right off the axle. Drivers are over rated. It's the mechanic and spotter that get the job done. :flipoff2:

I put my springs and a bunch of other junk on his truck. Mine is under the car cover on the side of the house till it starts snowing. Then I will order the coilovers and get down to business!

Cherokee Hill only broke a front axle, no body damage for me there.

I *might* be going back this weekend, all depends if I can get my junk back together before Saturday morning...

So does that mean your going to start posting questions about Chevy's and 44044's ...... :flipoff2:

And maybe you should show a pic of the busted birf w/you holding it ala seafish style. For all we know that was someone else's rig. :D

No, picked up a hybrid pack of 5" Skyjacker fronts and some rear leaves for $80 - gonna play with the leaves some more and slap them in there...

I will be putting the rear pack from my 90 truck in the back of the 83 - a little longer, and should work well.

I will be more than happy to post a pic of ma and the offending birf - as soon as I get off my arse and tear into it :p

You GOTTA be kidding! This truck SUCKS compared to my old one! Just makes me want to kick myself even harder for every tearing it apart :crybaby2:

BTW - after driving a V8 on the trail, I can honestly say that for a light-weight Toy, a big engine like that is NOT necessary AT ALL. I am even considering pulling the 350 and dropping my TBI 4.3L in it's place...

Or, maybe keep the Toy as-is and just use it for mud racing, because it is FAST! :D

Its not always nessesary, but its always cool. I would also do the 4.3L Vortec next time instead of the 350.

Or, maybe keep the Toy as-is and just use it for mud racing, because it is FAST! :D HELL YEAH!!! How fast have you got it up to? Mine will do over 120. And its scary with the setup I have (5" lift, 36" tires, Stock steering, SOFT springs.)

It depends on how you define beter ;)
A V8 is BETTER for breaking stuff...
A V8 is BETTER for breaking LOTS of stuff

So yeah, it is better :p

Just about 75 so far, but even that was scary since the truck had the handling characteristics of a dead chicken in an ice storm (figure that one out :p )

The 5.29's do slow it down on top end, but off the line - WOW!
