excuse the mess. Does anyone know how this type of puller works? I bought this kit from a friend a few years back. I'm pretty sure some pieces are missing. I believe a hydraulic jack is missing. Got the handle though

I'm pretty sure it's put together right so far, but I have no idea what's next. I'm assuming a jack comes into play somehow.

looks like it is designed for pulling axle bearing off that is why it is so long, you would clamp the bearing and then use the screw to run the axle out of the bearing...it will not work for diff bearings you need a two jaw locking type puller for those....

It has different length rods to adjust the hieght. It doesn't work like a standard puller. The top horizontal piece is not threaded. The center screw will just lift right out of there. Also on the horizontal piece, there is a warning sticker about using safety glasses with a hydraulic press. I'm almost positive there is some sort of hydraulic jack that is used somehow.

Put the nut on the other side of the bar.

That is a huge puller for a carrier bearing.

Well I figured it out now. It is missing a hydraulic ram. I remember my friend had it too. I didn't realize it went with the kit. Damn!
