if any one is interested in any of the 7mm/.284 calibers for long range shooting, this is a great read: http://www.6mmbr.com/7mm284.html

Interesting read, thanks.

I'm just now getting back into hunting after a 10 year break and figure that deserves a new rifle. Something with a slightly smaller bore is on order for what I plan to use it for but still some good information in that article.

great reading. It really hammers home the choice of a .243. Less drift and drop at 600 and 1000 yards.:flipoff2:

I'm feeling undergunned with my .308.

everyone should start long range shooting with a .308. it'll help you learn the wind.

One particular competitor does well for a while with a cartridge/caliber. People come up with reasons why. A few years later it's something else. Mehh. Whatever.

it was a look at different .284 caliber cartridges, not necessarily saying "this one's the best". i'm still a HUGE 300 win mag fan but it is impossible to deny that a lighter 7mm bullet has the same bc as a heavy 30 cal bullet. this means you are burning less powder to get the same velocities and wind bucking ability with much less recoil. less recoil means you will most likely shoot better and will definatly be faster back on target for follow up shots.

but, meh, what ever:flipoff2:.

getting your bullet drop correct is much easier than estimating wind. but yes, there are a few people shooting 243s pretty good at our match now.

Well, I suppose that's a good thing.
