I saw a kit that will allow you to run oil in your trailer axle hub instead of greese. My semi trailers run oil and they seem to last forever.
Has anyone done the swap, if so let me the good and bad about it.

mine already has oil bath hubs.........
work great other than the fact oil leaks out easier and you need to check them more often for fullness.

Our goosenecks have them and I like them, much more piece of mind on those long heavy hauls. I'd do it in a heart beat. Do you have a link?

Bought my trailer with oil bath hubs, and I like them much better. They seem to pull better and stay cooler than the grease hubs. Do have to keep an eye on them to make sure they stay full, but after 4 years, I haven't had any problems. Only had to add maybe 1/10th of a quart to one after a long trip and tighten the cover.

I don't. I saw the kits in Northern tool. As I searched I could only find them for 5 lug. My trailer is a 10K GVW 6lug

I was just reading about that kit. I found that alot of people do not like it and it leaks if you do not get it right the first time. I would rather swap out the hubs and do a full kit than have it half assed and fail some time.

oh yes, i agree on that ;)
If the trailer sits for long periods of time, oil bath hubs are not for you.

Bearing protectors/bearing buddys have always been a good idea to me. Any opinions on them?

with the bearing buddiesI have heard that if you put too much grease in them it flings it on to the brakes. not good.

Define "long periods of time."
Dad bought a gooseneck flatbed in 1999. It works hard for about 3 weeks in the summer, and only a couple of other trips during the rest of the year. The oil bath hubs have never been a problem.

They work great on your boat and light weight stuff-- but not on anything with brakes or anything that carries a lot of weight.
