Hey Toyzilla - you got TONS of tread left on those tires if you groove out the whole wear bar and center sections down to the tread base... We did that to a friend's half worn 38.5x16 TSL's and they worked like NEW

Exactly! That is why I was asking if Jimmy still had the groover!! Right now they are slicks. I have a hard time going up gravel roads. It sucks!

More than noise, I'm wondering if anyone has noticed increased wear. Since I sold the tow rig, I need to drive mine more on the street now. Seems to me the extra voids would shorten the life on pavement.

How much does a good groover cost, where can you get one? My buds and I are thinking about splitting the cost of one.

Paul Gagnon

The hand held groover I got is made by Ideal. I paid about $100 Canadian but I've seen them selling for around $60 US. The blades and different size heads cost extra. It works pretty good. Gets reeealllyy hot though, I's gotsta be careful that I don't burn me arm off or burn down the house.

I think they look really cool and I'm quadrupling my number of biting edges so they should work well. Also I am hoping that they will quiet down the road noise a bit or at least change the pitch. I'm going to try finishing them off tonight and tomorrow. It's a little slow at first but now I've got a rythm down it's getting quicker.

They should run quieter...Noise is caused by trapped air in-between tread voids...The more access for the air to escape the quieter the tire should run!
