Building a tow rig and was wondering what you guys are running for tires. I would like a good all-terrain nothing huge but maybe a little bigger than the stock tires, I was thinking around 31-33 would be a good size. The truck is a 88 Chevy K30 SRW that is all stock. Thanks.

With 3.42 gears stick with the 265/75/16. With 4.11's you can step up to a 285 or 295/75/16 Especially if you have the 454. The 295's are 33.6" tall.
I'm using some Hankook M/T's right now and like them. Michelin's are always good but spendy. Cooper builds some pretty good tires.
Then you always have the BF Goodrich and Goodyear guys.
Mostly I look at the sidewalls. Toyo's, BFG's, Hankooks, and Goodyears all have really thick sidewalls. The rest are middle of the road.

I'm running TOYO Open Country M/T's (33x12.50R16) on my '91 F350 CC Long Bed, they've got a little heavy tread for a Tow Rig, but this also doubles as a mild off road rig when i dont feel like towing the jeep out to play. if kept balanced and rotated often i should be able to get around 60k out of these. truck is still stock, going back and forth between a lift for it or not ....

Ya i'll definetly consider the Open Countrys, because I too would like this truck to be a dual purpose rig. Its got 235/85/16 on it now.

the thing to consider with the TOYO's is that they need to be balanced, and rotated around every 3000-5000 miles. becauseof the soft tread on them they wear quick if not properly taken care of the tires will "cup" and create a whole lot of racket on the highway. but so far they've turned ou to be an absolutely great tire for my truck

Ya, I think ill look in it those BFG Commerical TA thats kind of the style of tire i'm looking for. I would like a tire that can handle weight, offers good traction and last for miles and miles.
