The Engine looks killer and I really dig the half doors...

I'm worried about your cage though? Jdjanda and I bent a couple using "standard" designs, but I don't really know shite about cages. Yours looks as if there is very little structural support if you roll sideways.

Does anybody else know if it matters that there are only two hoops that run front to rear? No regular hoops. Are the stringers from left to right fine?

josh,
thanks for the input... i thougth about the side to side stability in a roll over, for a long time, i havent done it yet, but there will be an x brace behind the front seats for side to side stability, and for 5 point harness mounting. i got the basic idea from a cage i saw on avalanche engineering's site, and from jason P's of twisted customs. his rig is on the front of this month's 4 wheel.

Well, anything is better than nothing but some of the rollovers lately have really got me thinking. Especially since I wheel with my kids in the back seat.

The rollovers have me concerned more than ever, especially about mounting shit like CB's or speakers. I had considered the half doors too but I just know those suckers will open up on ya revealing the straight edged sheet metal(its possible) if in an accident. Being able to stay around long enough to raise my kid is my priority so I think Id have to go with having D&C makie me one full Family cage with integrated seats. Maybe for Christmas. Sorry, it got deep there for a moment, but shit think about it what if it was your kid.

As far as keeping the kids safe, I'm considering running window netting. I also see a lot of cages with no padding. Smacking your nogg'n on a bar can be as bad as the roll. People run some padding, I know it's ugly but so is a split skull.

padding, as shitty as it looks, is a def. i'll be doing that when its all done. i need my brain to function properly...2 years of mechanical engineering undergrad left...as far as the doors splitting, with a good weld, usually the steel will break or bend somewhere else, other than the seam. that is with a good weld. i made sure to have a good deal of penetration on all of those seams, and the filler pannels are also plug welded to the box frame that i built in.

thanks again guys.
its good to hear un biased opinions

haha,
yea, i had to build a huge shed in my back yard that resembles my house to put all of my mom's gardening crap in in order to take over the garage and build my shop. well worth the effort...

the rustang in the other bay is my next project.
