I was just thinking of putting a hand actuated parking brake to replace my stock 83 CJ7 break. It would solve a few problems. Has anyone tried this? I wonder if I could just get one from a wrecked Japanese pickup?

I did a search and Jess’s D300 brake came up. I was thinking I’d do that when got a new read drive shaft. Is there a reason to wait? Or will it just bolt on to a stock shaft and the new one with a CV joint?

One other question: What if I’ve broken my rear drive shaft, or u-joint, or what ever and I have only the front drive shaft in, will the D300 parking brake still work with just the fronts?

Ooooh I just had another though: If my brakes failed, would the D300 break work a little to slow me down? Sort of like a pinion break. I don’t mean every time, but in a panic situation would it hold up?

Maybe brake upgrades could be a TOTW?

P.S. I just went to http://www.highangledriveline.com/ and the new vehicle on the front page….wowoowow that looks pretty dang cool.

Yes, if it's in 4WD
