Whenever im coasting with out touching the gas my rear axle makes a loud successive popping noise but when I accelerate it goes away or when I brake, and I think it's coming from the left rear only, it has been recently stressed by a flat tire on that side.
Wth is up with this guys, I need to get it fixed ASAP so I can drive to school, or is it driveable?

Sounds like it might be a bad wheel bearing. Are you sure it's coming from the wheel area? You could jack up the rear (put it on stands), put the trans in N, and spin the tires, see if you can hear it.

Ill go try that right now, so ill tell ya what happens, what about the differential?

check the u-joints in the driveshaft for play, also check the pinion retaining nut, those come loose alot.

how do i check the pinion retaining nut? i figure i just check the driveshaft by jacking up a wheel (which i already did) and moving it and seeing if it has much play? I tried what KLF said, and i just jacked up the driver rear and put the tranny in neutral with the e-brake off and it spins freely with no sounds, im thinking its the diff now, i just cant get a brake, ill check the u-joint and pinion nut after someone tells me how to do the pinion nut.

To check the pinion nut, you can usually feel if it is loose at the front of the diff. If you feel any play in the pinion, remove the rear end of the rear driveshaft (you'll need a pair of 14mm wrenches), look at the big nut that's under there. There should be a staked part that is punched down into a groove cut into the pinion shaft. If the nut has turned at all, you will see that the staked part is in a different position with respect to the pinion shaft.

If this is loose, you'll need a 30mm socket and a torque wrench to tighten it.

It's usually a pretty loud bang when this gets loose, a very heavy noise. If you've been driving it very long like this, it's probably too late anyway, your gears may be toast.

You might also take the front of the rear driveshaft off at the back of the transfer case, wiggle the output flange back and forth, see how much play you have. You may have the dreaded "worn tranny output shaft" problem. This noise can be hard to trace.

I didnt notice any loud bangs, but the sound definately sounds like it is coming from the rear diff, do you think if I took it to a toyota dealership they could actually fix it?

Sure if you want to mortgage the house to get it fixed

First off, is this a stock rear end?? Or could it possibly have an ex locker in there?? I had one that did that EXACT same thing.

Things to check

1. u-joints - block the front tires, tranny in neutral, check for slop

2. Pinion nut - Pull the differental side of the driveshaft off and check for slop in the flange itself (Pretty easy to tell if the nut has moved with the toyota staked nut on there, in laymans terms, you bend the lip of the nut in to keep if from spinning off)

3. Rear brakes - Take her for a spin, let it coast, let the clicking start and lightly apply the brakes - does the nose stop??

4. Spider gears pull the rear diff cover and check the center pin, spacer and spider gears for play. My buddy just recently broke a center pin  and it did something similar but under acceleration AND coasting.

Yes its the stock rear end, unless an ex locker is broken cause it's definately open seen it many a time. And yes I only have to brake slightly to get it to stop, less than I have to accelerate, I tried rotating the driveshaft with on wheel jacked up and the tranny in neutral and e-brake off, that should work to check the pinion nut right? It didnt budge no matter how hard I twisted, even though im pretty weak, lol. How much should I expect toyota to charge me? Could anyone else around here help me?

Can you jack up the entire rear end at once? With the front tires blocked, the rear end completely off the ground, and the tranny in neutral I bet you will find your problem. Once it's up, move the driveshaft, not only in the usual clock wise or counter clockwise, but try and move it up and down, left to right and forward and back. :D

Yes I can, I have 2 jack stands but its just such a bitch crawling around under there on your back and all, especially with the stock cruiser jack, although it's the highest extending jack i've ever seen minus the hi-lifts. I think thats gonna be my next upgrade is a hi-lift and one of those roller carts. Damn thing never cuts me any slack, maybe it really can't take the small amounts of abuse I throw at it.

Man u guys are gonna love this, it wasnt even an internal problem, my lug nuts were working themselves loose. Problem is I was to stupid to check it until my wheel fell off while driving. Damnit, im so stupid, good thing I was only doin 20 mph with out any traffic around, and I was just on my way to get that damn thing fixed. Only damage is a smashed in wheel lip on the bottom of the back drivers side quarter panel.

Two weeks ago i had the same thing,
I was driving my dad's KZJ90 at about 95 MPH and suddenly heard a weird sound so i slowed down and it became worse. Pulled over on the shoulder to check and couldn't find a thing.
I went home really slow (annoying the other traffic) and called the Toyota dealership, a mechanic came by drove it and thougt of either wheel bearings or inner axle.
But since i'm curious i already started wrenching (takeing skidplates of and such) and jacked up the front wheel.
And what a surprise, the left front wheel was really loose.
I think i was lucky that the wheel didn't come of at high speed because i probably would end up hurt or worse
