Does any one with one of these have broblems with oil pushing out of the vent tube at high RPM and high elevation? I'm running 5/16 hose and it runs to mid roll cage and still comes out at times and makes a mess.

oh, poor you. your rock block is acting up. looks like you better sell it to me.

you could always put a trap on the breather, a windage baffle or screen on the inside part.

pity. pity, pity, pity. :mr-t:

Works great and is one of my best mods on my rig but after using 5' of vent hose you would think it would be fine.

stuff a couple cotton balls or a piece or a rag into it, that will still let air flow, but stop most debris and fluids.

Is the fluid hot?

I called him back in 04 about the problem and didn't now really at the time.I should call him again then to see if there is a fix,if you don't mind telling what was the fix?

Talked to him and he mentioned the diff breather from Trail Gear or drill a hole in the side of the housing and relocate the vent.I will try the TG breater first because thats the easiest right now.

I've heard of this problem a lot, but that's one thing I have never had a problem with myself. Even when it's been laid over on it's side, upside down and every which way, no leaks. I do have one of the newer one's though.

I did a temp fix on mine by using the overflow from the fuel system of the Zuk. I plan on using the fill plug hole and the lower hole on the rock block to run the oil through a tranny cooler, via a 12v hydraulic pump.

Should work. We'll see.

You have to have oil in it and wheel before it it would leak Brent...:D

I installed a new breather on the side and capped the breather in the rear so we'll see how it does. Brent said that's how they made the later models with the breather on the side.

Heres another question, has anyone installed Petroworks 1.6 engine conversion kit and ran a rock block? The kit has a trans relocator bracket and with the rock block you use a different cross member and trans mount.

the advantage of the Rock Block is that it can be used with the sami trans and 1.3. If you are going to use a 1.6 you are better off running a tracker trans and Kicker3. Its a better set up and half the price

EDIT: you already have the Rock Block so I guess that does not apply to you.

If the intermediate shaft is still in there, the rock block will fit. Even if you have to make a custom bracket its not that hard. I ended up making a custom 'lite weight' bracket out of .095 chromo tubing for my RB because the bracket that comes with the RB is heavy and hangs below the frame rails.

Can you post a picture of the bracket you made? Just got a rock block but it didn't come with the cross member. I'm looking for mounting ideas... Thanks.

I'll try, but I'm pretty busy tonight loading everything getting ready to head out tomorrow to the hammers until sunday.

Did you get any of the bracketry with the rock block?

it came with 1 bracket. It looks like it bolts to the bottom of the rock block and holds a bushing... and thats it. Have a good time at the hammers!

great, you got the good bracket!! :smokin: mine is real simple to build. sorry for the oil slick, but my t/c and r/b drool from the really steep stuff and occasional flop. :homer:

Perfect. Thanks for uploading these...I'll definitely be doing something very similar. Looks pretty simple. At this point I'm just stoked that I found a rock block!

Which is simialer to PetroWorks.Check Vince (Evil Twin) His new rig is set up this way.

He kinda told me how to cure the problem with the oil pukin out to. When they built these they put the vent hole in the back of it where the shift rod slides out of the case into a tube and when you shift it the rod pushes oil into the hose. Also the hose is really small so it kinda vapor locks and won't run back in. He told me to drill and tap a hole in the side of the case and put a hose barb in it there thats bigger and it'll pretty much solve the problem.

Made that mod. two months ago and no problems so far. I just put a rubber cap over the end of the shift rail cap were the breather used to be.

cool, I'm also going to add a couple of braces from the tranny mount to the frame to stiffen that stuff a bit.
