btw. Dan, I'm glad that I could help you out with how my axles were built. Coping my axles and making them even cheaper(?) to produce (sell?) warms my heart! Let me know if I can help out any more!

its for african safari hunts and game spotting. i would guess that this vehicle is for the rich white and arabian hunters and that there is a beat up old land rover as the chase vehicle which takes the kill

hey, you know what the native africans say about the white hunters...

The second rear axle isn't powered, so i don't really get the use for it, maybe for extra stability.

What's the use of the second rear axle? It is not powered. I don't even think there brakes on the second rear axle, but i am not sure about that.

  Do some more research, son. Hunting in most African countries is one of the major $$ earners these days. It has become very organized, and thus regulated. The animals killed are past their breeding prime, have already contributed thier genes to the pool, and are esentially culled. Their last act is to bring in $15,000 to the economy. Before this occurs though, the foriegner has to apply for a license (through a local, who pays big $$ for a concession), and there are big consequences for shooting non licensed or incorrect animals. This was the way it was run in Zimbabwe, and South Africa when I worked there in the mid 90s. We were inspected all the time by the game board and conservation board. Like I said before:

just got done talking to Daniel... he told me these prices for his Mog/9" combos... sounds pretty reasonable to me.

$3500 rear
$4000 front
Add $750 for CTIS
$4500 including 6X6 center

CTIS? I think I'll pass...

My questions are how top heavy it will make my rig to mount axles like this? what kind of suspension? 4 link w/ coilovers my only viable option? Wrap must be enormous with the mog outers...anybody have any links to install info?

Would it make sense to notch the frame on the install of these axles?

Doug K

I understand the mount in the stock location, but frankly the last thing I want is 6" more lift... I'd have to run WIDE ass axles and lengthen my wheelbase a ton if I go that big... not to mention run 42" tires... I'd really like to stay 38.5-39.5" and maintain a 96-100" wheelbase for tight trails... hence why i'm wondering about notching the frame.

As for the 4 link... it'll just be a standard 4 link? No torque link or anything like the mog axles?

Nodwell Commander. Big, big, big machine. Rockwell "5 ton" toploaders with detroit lockers in all the diffs, 66" goodyears, Cat 3406 or Detroit 8V-71 (can we say supercharged 2 stroke?) 1810 u-joints, 30% sideability, 50% Gradeability, 2 180 gallon fuel tanks and a 30 ton payload!

We got the digger (auger) truck stuck today at work (International 10 ton with a boom on the back). I used a 98 Ford single cab 1-ton dually to try and pull it out. I pulled the front wheels off the ground on the ford with the 16,000 pound hydraulic Chelsea winch in the back... And then got the ford stuck. We brought our Nodwell 240 over, and that just hesitated. (busted winch)

We called in a Foremost commander and the thing drove in a circle around us and pulled us out like nothing man. This, is a serious off road machine. They keep it aired down so there's a constant bulge in the tires. Beadlocks and all. I'll have to take a picture of the one at work.

Isnt the whole point of running these axles to gain ground clearance without running huge tires? To go along with it, since your raising the axle but not the center of the wheel, you wont need that much lift. Just chop out your lift to a little above stock level (your lift now minus the 6 inches from the axle) and your good to go. Or am I over simplyfing this?
