Anyone have a recommandation for a good(cheap) roof mount bike rack? I have factory racks on a 2000 s10 Blazer, with a yakima snowboard rack currently.

What kinda bike(s) are you carrying?

A Trek 6500... pain in the arse to throw in the Blazer...

I've been using 2 Thule "Criterium" (598) racks since August and love them. Easy to throw the bikes up there and secure. I've had bikes on the roof at 80mph and it held them fine.

I was skeptical of the of a vertical bike rack, having used "fork/tray" styles for the past 10 years.... But I don't think I'll ever go back!

I use the yakima king cobra mounts primarily (also have an anklebiter mount which I don't think they make anymore - it has the upright mount that grabs one of the cranks). The king cobras are great and the best I've used - they hold anything with two wheels and do it quick and easily, unlike fork mounts that are a pain or simply don't work with 20mm axles or disc brakes, or mounts that grab the down tube on bikes and don't work well with odd shaped tubes...and you never have to disassemble or reassemble anything. When I first got them I was cautious with my 40lb $2300 baby up there, but these days I pretty much drive like it's not there as I'm confident in the rack. I was also recently hit by a lady running a red light on my way home from biking which tossed/pitched the rear end of my car a bit, but my bike stayed on the rack just fine!

I like racks on the back... bike on top makes my truck to tall when going through the trees. I did modify it so it holds the bikes up higher. ground clearance. If no trees then you may not care so much about hight. Just dont back in to anything.

I missed that it was a blazer. In that case a hitch rack would be better and they make the king cobra style of mount for those too
