: Auto Tranny and Steep Downhills

After consideable deliberation and searching, I have decided to go with a Zuk 2.0 litre, 04 cylinder, 16 valve motor coupled with an auto tranny in my Sami. I´m gonna get the donor vehicle complete (a rolled Grand Vitara), and swap out EVERYTHING that even looks electrical, so I should have no problems...:p

However, one point has left me concerned, that being engine braking on steep downhills. How will the auto tranny handle this?? I did a search, but found little info on Zuk trannys...

Is there a way to wire in some sort of bypass switch to the lockup system?? As of now, I know ZERO about this tranny, haven´t even SEEN it yet...

As a side question, will I be able to wad this tranny into the body tunnel using "just" a BFH or will I have to break out the Sawzall??

TIA,

DemoMike

I didn't have to do any restructuring of the tunnel to get anything to fit, but I did mount the motor about 3" lower than the stock motor for a lower COG. Also did a 2" drop on the transfer case.
E-mail me if you got any questions. 4x4samurai@comcast.net

I've got the tracker 1.6/16v with auto/6:1 sumo gears and 4:56 diffs with 37 swampers and I rarely ever brake on steep down hills. The auto tranny holds back just as good as my 5spd in my other zuk. Put in the 2.0 and enjoy the auto.

We´d already talked about this in another thread. His problem is with the timing chain on his wife´s 2.5 V6.......
