getting ready to ream my d30 knuckles for rod flip. The reamer I have is 1/2" to like 7/8th's and about 8 to 10 inches long. Is the reamer to big???

The diameter doesn't matter, the taper is what's important.
To ream the right diameter, test fit the reamer in the old hole, and use masking tape to mark the depth. Ream to the tape, approaching the depth slowly and test fitting. Don't over ream.

All that assumes your reamer is the right taper.

thanks. I'm assuming that is the one for a chevy 3/4 ton tre since that is the only one he sells.

I did this on a CJ7 and I bought some weld in inserts from http://www.goferitoffroad.com/products.htm They worked great.
