I busted a 31 spline Dutchman shaft in my 8.8 last weekend. I called Dutchman and they recommended replacing both. Why? They said 'maybe damage to the other shaft'. Well, it looks OK. Are they just trying to upsell me?

Cheers

Replace em both and just keep the other one as a spare... if you already broke one its only a matter of time before you break another.

I agree, but only if $$$ flow allows you to do so. If it were me I'd only be getting one. And as it stands I'm not getting ANY, for a YEAR :eek:

Check the splines and the shaft to see if it's twisted at all. If it looks good and straight then run it. If the shafts are equal length then I'd buy two new ones and keep your old one as a spare.
