Went to a party at some friends house at the beach -- had a few

Sun: Woke up still at the beach - watched a bunch of dudes surf while I ate breakfast. Came home. Did nothing the rest of the day.

welded new floors in my scout. found more rust. fixed more rust. worked on my h1 rims.

My old lady got back from college so i had to satisfy some of those urges...

went to the bar on sat. night and 2 people got shot in the parking lot... i had no idea until 2am when i tried to leave.
The cops made everyone stay until 3:30... they let us keep drinking though so it was okay. I guess the one girl died on the spot, her boyfriend was in critical condition, and the shooter, her apparent ex boyfriend proceeded to evacuate his skull of his brains in the neighboring town. Thats exciting shit in a town were theres been 2 homicides in 10 years.

My nephew and I got the rear suspension in the 52 Willies done using 800 springs and stuff from Jeff's shop. Jeff sucks at mind reading however since I told him D27 U-bolts instead of D44 U-bolts so they didnt fit :flipoff2: Also took the boy shooting for a bit.

I moved the Scout and am welding the new cage to the frame this week so I can wheel with Binderbasher this weekend. I have to trim the front fenders a bit since my 38s did rub at steep downward angles a week ago.

Finally welded perches on one of the new axles for the GN and got one bolted in.

Still need to wire the brakes and set the bearing preload and tighten up the spring bolts.. and of course, weld perches on the other axle. :D

Glad I went 2" wider on the axles.. but should've gone for 4"..

On Saturday I installed a TV antenna on the roof of the house (got a new HD capture card, and the best way to get your locals in HD is off-the-air like the old days). While up high I took some pictures..

Out in the distance (which is South) is my original yellow '72 and my mom's '74 (waiting for me to replace the 727 with one that goes backwards), and behind them is a '76 Luv.

Then the 16' bumper-pull flatbed, the Jayco 1006 pop-up camper, wife's '85 Toyota, my '77 trail rig, the '73 street Scout, the '74 Travelette, and the new-to-me 20' GN.

(I didn't get a picture of what's just to the south of the shop)

http://www.tmcom.com/~tsm1/gallery2/d/49568-1/11-22-08_1408.jpg

and hiding behind the shop, between the shop and the 16' Scout-crap-shed you can see the new body for the trail rig (hidden from view, since it's technically junk - doesn't run) along with the 60F, 70, and maybe a few more 60 rears and 44s... and the neighbor's place n' horse. :D

Rancho del Mandera ees loookin' bueno. Good to see progress on the gooseneck.
I hope that fancy TV antenna that you risked life and limb to erect included some type of digital satelitte dish...'cause you know that in FEB '09 analog TV signals are no more.

I finished installing the Taurus fan in the Scout. I used a cheap 25A fan install kit with temp switch for the low speed side, and a 70A relay from 12voltguy (Seabass44) for the hi speed side.

It's just a different type of antenna. Anybody remember the old UHF round hoop antenna you needed to get higher than channel 13? Yes when T.V.'s still had a tuner knob. OK I'm f'ing old! But it's the same thing, you just need an "HDTV" anntena not a UHF one:homer:

If you live in the boonie's might want to look here.

Actually, the antenna in question IS an old VHF/UHF yagi. I took down my 24db gain wifi antenna at my mom's house earlier this summer (used to have a 2Mbit 802.11 connection there). When I had the mast erected, I also had a new TV antenna put up.. it came down, too. The antenna is ~12 years old.

That antenna is now on a 5' mast on my house (vs the 34'-er for the wifi connection) and works just great for pulling in all of the digital and digital HDTV signals that are OTA here (along with analog signals we still have, and will still have for a long time - the low-power re-transmission / transponders don't have to cut over to digital in Feb - so you'll still need your old analog tuners AND your digital tuners if you live around here)

That BS your cable company keeps pushing is to keep you on their teet.

I was getting a far better signal with a pair of OLD rabbit ears on my TV than I got with the cable company... and for my local channels, it's better OTA than it is via the Dish satellite I now have, too.

You just need a digital tuner in your TVs (or the converter box). I now have two HDTVs with digital tuners, plus an ATSC HDTV capture card in my DVR.

Rather than put rabbit ears all over the place, I put the antenna on the roof and I'll feed it to all of the TVs using the old cable TV coax.

Dish now supports my SciFi habit.. in HD. :D

Guess it all depends on your area... Here, the cable signal is a very very good digital signal. For me, I have cable for the 10Mb internet connection.... being able to watch tv is just an added perk. :flipoff2:

Well, ya learn sumthin' new everyday (well at least you should) I figured you had some type of digital dealio since you said you got a new HD card.

And yeah, R290, I'm old enough to remember TVs that had knobs, and you *shudder* had to actually get off the couch to change the channel:flipoff2: It was my job to adjust the rabbit ears. We were in high cotton when we got one of those fancy rot-a-vators.

I guess Camo needs to add a nerd forum.:flipoff2:
