I'm going to make a U-shaped sleeve about 8" long and tall enough to encompass the top tab (The start of the initial problem in my case). My frame has a hairline crack in the near back bolt hole through the frame. I'm also thinking about running a support across to the other frame rail. Either way I think Hydro Assist is in my near future.

By any chance, are you running a welded dif in the front?\

I'll be fabbing up that fix this weekend and if you still need them, I'll post the pics.

Regards

Dave

It's a common problem, plate the inside of the frame, or the U shaped reinforcment will work well too.

There is a lot of side load placed on the frame right at the steering box.

I cracked mine twice by the front shock tower. Boxed the frame with 1/4 plate on two sides and it wasn't good enough.
Similiar to JeepRecovery, I added channel to the bottom of the frame making a taller cross section. Seems to be holding ok now.

I have this problem as well. I am going to plate the top and outside, under box. The inside is already plated. As for the plate thickness and pitman arm, no problem, just lengthen the draglink to compensate. My ram is on the workbench ready for install too.
