: V8 3spd dana300 XJ swap(NOT A SBC)

ok guys i have seen alot of sbc in the xj i guess cause aa makes the motor mounts the question i have is i have a 3spd from a cj with the dana 300 i want the passenger side drop since im gonna run chevy tons that i got for a great deal
so i know if i use a 302 bellhousing i can mount either 351 has this been done and if so please post up the link
how do you think this setup will do?
any opinions on fuel injected motor from a f150 versus carbed

Dunno about the 3speed, and obviously dana 300 works, look at vetteboy's rig with the dodge 60 front and dana 300 t case.

My1stNiceJeep 11-26-2008, 11:58 AM Is your a manual 3 spd or an automatic 3 speed?Dana 300 never came behind a manual 3 speed.If it is a manual 3 speed from a CJ its a T150 most likely.That would make the Tcase a Dana 20.As far as carb'd VS fuel injected, its a no-brainer.The fuel injection is worth the trouble to splice a few wires.

I've got a 75 CJ5 with a 401, 3 spd, and the Dana 20 T-Case. i just picked up a Dana 300 ... not sure what model tranny i've got, but what kind of tranny would i need to get to bolt to the 401 and the 300? would the NP435 bolt to the 401? that way i can save the dana 300 to mate with a 203 for the cj ill be building
351/t150/d20 with chevy full width 1/2 tons 33s 86xj think i could tow the cj with this setup?
5.3/th400/203/d300(with 4:1 gears) chevy full width 3/4tons 36s-37s CJ
i think i might go with these two setups that way i dont put any parts to waste the cj already has the 1/2 tons under it with new 33s on black steels and the 3spd dana 20.
i found a dam good deal on a 351 for $400 that has a .532lift 300duration lunati cam new lifters crank 0.30 over pistons and so on that runs dam good just needs some higher compression heads for that much cam
so now i dont have to strip my 94 4.0ho 5spd xj to make my 86 run i can just sale it to fund the project and have something better than a 4.0 ax15 setup

A NP435 will bolt up to the 401 with the T150 bellhousing.You still need an adaptor for the Dana 300.Remember you are only gaining the Granny low of the transmission.On the street the T150 will top out the same as an Np435 will.You could use a CJ T18 with the dana 20 or Scout Dana 300.But in reality the Jeep t18 and Scout 300 will cost as much as adapting the np435 to the Jeep 300.You could also adapt a Ford T18 to the Dana 300.If your spending any kind of money on this I would try to end up with either NP435/T18 to the Dana 300.

Probably not gonna be that great.The 3speed pretty much sucks.I had a CJ5 w/258/t150/Dana 20 with 31s and I hated it.Dont get me wrong itll work but I doubt youll be pleased with it.

My1stNiceJeep 11-28-2008, 12:41 PM If you want to run the Ford use a ZF5speed from an F250.Its basically a Grannylow with overdrive.I think it has a 5.7 to 1 first gear.The only problem I would see is the Tcase.Fords are drivers drop.Im not sure if you could flip a BW Tcase or mount a Passengers drop Tcase to the ZF.
