: Hybrid project

My 100inch hybrid project is finally under way. It won’t go together nearly as fast as Sam’s did. I have figured it will take 2 years, more of the Mike Slade time frame and method. Nothing too extreme. Small block Chevrolet, Lt95 tcase with overdrive. Part time conversion. Locking front hubs.

Maybe I can get Mike to post a pic or two of it.

BTW anyone looking for a 3.5 with dual carbs, or maybe a set of 4 Rostyle wheels?

Jeff - looks like you got a good project rig to start with. Man what a beater, i bet that machine has seen a lot of hard wheeling.

So Jeff whats the rest of the specs - axles, tyres, body type etc.

Two years is a long time.

Yes, it is Sam....Ohhhhhhhh yes...A loooooong time.

Got the front burned in last night. Stayed in the shop till 1am....If I dont' make it to the Rally, it won't be for a lack of trying...Thursday is priming and painting the links and axle...Then bolt-up...Then on to the "little" stuff. Breaks, hydro, cage, fuel, lights. It's gonna' be tight.

Adam, I’m sure we can make a deal, as you probably have a few items I’m looking for. I’ll email you today.

Sam, the two year time frame is an estimate based on time and money, of which right now I have neither. The purpose of this truck is to make a nice daily driver that I can use for mild wheeling. My other Range Rover will then move into the dedicated offroader spot. That is another project in itself. I plan to strip it down to the frame and graft a series rear crossmember on to it. Modify the engine mounts powersteering etc, then galvinize the frame. Axels will be converted to 24 spline. Other than that they will remain pretty stock. The tub will be stretched in front of the rear wheel, and it will have the stock D90 rear overhang. Removable hard top with internal rollcage. Tires, 50 series with 20” daytons? Naw, it’ll have 33’s. Nothing to wild or extreme, but what will make this truck nice is the details. Some I have worked out, but most will be created along the way.

Without getting too deep, this truck, like life, is about the process. In this case the destination is a bonus.

You've got to make it to the Rally. I can't wait to see your truck.

hey jeff - that looks kind of bitchin the way it sits!

i dunno - i'd consider a beater front clip, some home-shot paint, tubular roll cage worthy of a stretch-top, and a fold down windshield to round out the existing body. Would certainly be unique -

cheers,

isaac

No Isaac,

The beater is going to be the black truck in the background of the second picture.
