Whats going on guy's?? New guy from nc here.I ain't new to wheelin, been doing it for years and years with all my buddies.I am going to pick up my own first rig on friday. Its an 89 1500 suburban.Beleive it or not it's in pretty damn good shape.I'm tradeing a 04 crf 50 for it!!! It's mechanically sound, but it's got some bumps and bruises which makes it a perfect candidate for my first rig.I don't rally plan on sinking tons and ton's of money on it at first.I'm just going to put a 6 inch lift, some 36 tsl's,and wheel the hell out of it till it breaks!!I work for a towing company so I will be building slowly but surely for off road recovery's.One thing that is on the list is cutting the back of the top off.I did a search and found a couple of you guy's have done this and they turned out great! Is there anywhere out there that has some sort of step by step or how to do this right???I realy need to know the best place to cut the roof at,and what truck to use for the back wall and window.Just any older chevy truck,or should it be a crew cab? Will the tailgate still work or do I need to do any other mod to it other than cap it off?Any links or info will be much appreciated!!! When I do mine I plan on taking step by step pics and tip's along the way!!!! Thanks guys!!!

so when does the d60 come in?

36" + heavy ass burb + 10b = :snap: FUCK!!!

most just chop the back 6" off of a pick up cab all the way to the floor pan and weld it in.

since you say "trading" like it isnt a 100% done deal, i would wait. 3/4t burbs and trucks are dime a 2 dozen then you will at least get a better trany and rear end to start with.

I'd run it. I just got my second 3/4t, and even though it's 8lug, it's still getting a 60/14bolt at some point. I never broke anything w/315's on it, but ate the hell out of the ball joints.

They make good rigs for learning in, and they're cheap/free so the inevitable body damage is no biggie. :D
