I have a 94 dodge 3/4 ton ctd standard cab with alot of miles. But the motor and trans are fairly new. I have found an awsome deal on a 98 xtra cab 1ton with only 90k but it is a V10.
I am hoping someone has done the swap and could enlighten me on the prodject. Is it worth it? is it hard on the wallet?
Any help would be appreciated.

what are you hoping to accomplish? gain the xcab? im not really understanding what sort of affect the high mileage has had on the body/chassis that you want to swap your drivetrain into a new truck.
i have never done the swap,so i cant help you there.
however, since the truck youre wanting to build was readily available with the drivetrain that you want,id say youd be $$ ahead to simply sell off your current truck and purchase a new one. especially if you put a $$ amount on the time you put into the swap.
if you were swapping into a 1st gen crew cab,a ramcharger,a chevy or ford,or some other truck that never came with a CTD that is a different story. but you should have no prollem finding a fairly clean 94-98 xcab 12v for a decent price.
with the price of diesel these days, this is a shitty time to sell a diesel truck. but a great time to buy one. demand for diesel trucks has fallen and people are not getting nearly what they could have gotten out of them a couple years ago.
my 2 cents,for what theyre worth :)
