I can post my final shots of Kate after picking her up.

I have only gotten her on the trail once since I picked her up.

First impression.....I LIKE :D

It is definitly going to take some getting used to with the auto, but so far, so good.

I have been working out the bugs on the tranny and the engine and keeping it cool.

I bought one of those kick ass coolers that Georg suggested...I bought a 14 x 14....biggest they had, so if it lets enough air through to the radiator, I think the tranny heat will be a thing of the past.

Her are the final shots of the engine bay and the skidplate and such...

Here is a shot of the front driveshaft necked down with solid bar at the top to clear the tranny pan...

I am really excited by how much clearance I got with my shaved "Arse".

I have 13.5" of clearance front and rear with a nice "ramp" of a slope on the rear axle to keep it from hanging up on stuff.

13.5" is with 5# of air in the 42's.

Here is a shot from the rear of the rear transfer case crossmember/traction bar anchor point.

The skidplate is built 1" below frame level and it is flat, save for one little "bulge" of 1/2" at the Atlas.

It is 3/8"...heavy bastard!!!

Why did you remove your site tube on the Atlas? Was it too close to the crossmember?

Planning on running over LANDMINES?

That is one heavy skid plate. Let me know when you install the lift in your garage to remove that thing!!!

That rig is looking too sweet!

That thing is an accident waiting to happen. I bashed it bad when a stick went up in there on a trail and almost lost all of my fluid.....what the hell is the purpose of that Micky Mouse thing anyway?

That is what it takes with a 4800# beast like Kate. The 3/16 one I had before was worthless.....it bent like hot candy.

Nolen -

NICE! :smokin:

Looks like you need some protection for that shaved arse! The first pic shows a bit of arse rash :flipoff2:

Seriously - it looks like the rear cover could peel off if you hung it up.

Wish I could get south and meet up with you guys in Farmington....

I will be covering the CALROCS finale for a friend's site... Anyone coming for that?

hey nolen, the angle of this wrap bar, seems pretty extreme....obviously it would still stop the diff wrapping, but on this sort of angle, would it cause a lot of hop or bounce in the rear? especially under load or climbing hills?

im not trying to be a guru or anything, it just seems like pressure on it would force the diff down, and try and push it in the arc of the bar

it could be beneficial though, in that, downward force could keep the more pressure on the tyres, thus increasing traction, and the hop is a side effect that you dont mind?

any hills where you are?

i do like it though, its big fat and heavy....SO.....you got gearing and heaps of horsepower, you got big tyres, and super strong axles, the weight is hardly something you care about...... and look at it this way, you can keep loading it up, and not worry, a heavier vehicle can always pull a lighter vehicle with ease, but not the other way around, having the biggest and heaviest rig out there is sometimes a good thing.

that dude with the rockwells, wasnt paying it out......he was just mucking around.....but HE does need bigger meats, and he'd be just as heavy, if not more, with all that hard top

got any wheeling pics?

BJ, thanks. And i have lost the top and windshield, got 40's, and have a new cage. Mine weighs around 4300 now. Here are some pics just before the cage: http://members.cox.net/weshanson/2deadcows/2deadcows.htm

Also, i know what you mean about the traction arm, cause mine does that. But you just have to build it to fit up in there, and live with some angle. In order to get a better angle on such a short arm, you would have to sacrifice a lot of clearance, and clearance is moer important than a little wheel hop. Besides it only hops on loose surfaces, or REALLY steep ledges.

Also, nolen your bar is on the wrong side... I bet you can feel that baby torque over HARD to the pass side when you hit the gas? If you could put the trac bar on the pass side, it would counteract that...

Laters!

hey elf

thanks for the clarification, i tried to get my top link horizontal and it runs just below the driveshaft level offering protection for it (this worked for a while, now they are both rockrashed good)

i also put it in the middle, and i can wial into it all day, it hops bad with the 38s on and aired down (almost uncontrollable) and its ok with 35s on! so i guess tyre wall is more of a factor than angle of wrap bar, and i see by the pics, he has NO ROOM to put it elsewhere, let alon, on less angle!! ;) underneath that thing is loaded!!:p

No shit....If I keep the Rancho 9000 on "1" and dog it out the left front tire will damn near come off the ground!

Good call, but I'm not moving it!!

Mine used to hop REAL bad when I did not have Rancho 9000's cranked to "5" and when I carried a NAPA store worth of spares right over the rear axle.

I moved as much weight as possible beneath the drivers seat and attached to the center crossbrace on my roll bar and I damn near eliminated it with the 38.5's.

Now with the 42's the sidewalls load up and release on steep climbs causing nasty bouncing.

It should be a different story with the Auto tranny...I will let you know after Poteau on Labor Day :D
