skys crossmember has issues with durabilty. id go a diffrent route.

http://deaverspring.com/ - do it once do it right

i agree with the crossmember, its a horrible design across the front with the open plate steel thats super prone to getting wankered bad on rocks...

what do you mean open ended on the cross member? who else makes a kit? or any suggestions? im still undecided on the front springs. really hoping to get as many parts as i can before the holidays so we can put the hammer down.

the 1/4''-3/16'' plate is wide open on the bottom, it caves inward with even small impacts with rocks, etc..if you buy it or bought it, welding a simple piece of flat plate of similar thickness from that bottom edge to the back section of the crossmember, even at a diagonal, it will dramatically improve on that aspect of the design...

www.frontrangeoffroadfab.com - i know they make a sas kit for tacomas. not sure if anyone else does currently. most are adapting the minitruck kits or making their own.

I have run Marlin 4 inch fronts for about 4 years now and they are a really tough spring. They flex great and can take a beating.

Meridian, your PM box is full.

Im using Old Man Emu 3" lift rears for a 80's pickup/Hilux. Got them from Slee Offroad in CO.

SEARCHING DOES PAY OFF!! I am going to get the front range kit for my 97 runner conversion. No mods needed and is about the same price, the sky kit is a bit more actually, but includes the steering box mount kit... I do have a question though, how wide will one of these kits put the springs, is it still posible to use a stock toyota front axle or will the spring perches need to be moved? I am doing a passenger drop, as I am parting out my 85 runner for the conversion.

negative on the mini truck housing. spring pad width is too narrow. start looking for a 44 or saving your pennies for diamond unless you go to a mini truck sas kit.

Thanks, i have an old taco frame in the back yard, i will take some measurements and go from there... Not to just beat a dead horse but I assume that the axle will work probably with spacers but i sure steering will go to poo and front end parts to follow... So in other words not a good choice. Not to hyjack but what about a fj80 or fj60 axle? I know the fj80's are set up for coils but has anyone slapped a set of hangers on one, I believe the fj 60 is 60 inches wide that gets it alot closer...

way ahead of you on that one. i drove over 1700 kms each way to pick up my waggy axle. turned out the guy didnt actually check to see what side the pumpkin was on.FUCKKKK. it was a 1978 and has a pass drop being a quad r trac and even the rear was offset. wasnt a complate waste. came back with a mini truck axle, 5 spd and gear driven t case, rims .

went to the wrecker yesterday and found a 60 series cruiser with a 2H diesel and 5 spd.

so im going with the 60 front axle, then either a dana 300 tcase or dual mini truck,

You could also flip the 60 front.

Cut the "diff cover" ring gear guard circle off the front of the axle. Spin it 180º and weld it back on.

Cut the knuckle balls and spin them both 180º. Move 4 or 6 of the diff-mounting studs, flip sides on the inner axle shafts and voila! driver's drop FJ60 front axle!!

To make this truly bling, leave the front circle off, drill and tap for an FJ40 rear diff cover, and then you can inspect your gears without having to pull the shafts out!
