Help Please,
I am considering lifting my '98 Jeep Wrangler TJ 4.0L Sport. Belonging to an established Jeep club, members there appear to have (at least) two points of view. First, I desire and would really like a 4 inch suspension lift plus maybe a 1 inch (plus) body lift so I can run up to 35 inch tires.
Since the Jeep is also my daily (get back and forth to work) ride, many say--I'm asking for trouble. They say that height would put way to much stress on my other stock Jeep components and that my Jeep would be in the shop frequently for expensive repairs.
Any suggestions? If I can't go that high with 35" tires, I still have my heart set on a lift with 33's. How high can I lift (and using what components) to improve my off-road capabilities without creating too much potential damage for my work-a-day street ride??? I've got about $1,500.00 to $2,000.00 to spend.
NOTE: I’m a social worker helping disabled kids. I’m not a gear-head, so I have to depend on veteran Jeepers with mechanical savvy. Thanks if you can help.
