Hey Guys,
I have a scout that building up. The Problem though, is that currently, I don't know what way I'm going to go with it. It may be turned into a strictly off road vehicle (1 ton axles + 39.5s), Or it may be used to tow a a couple Samurai's around with (Much smaller tires, and most likely stock axles). So, I want to know what you guys would Fuel Intake you guys would recommend for both Applications. It's for a 345, that was just completely rebuilt. Either way I go with it, it will have a set of Headers on it.

If it stays offroad... Simple - Fuel Mileage is no concern. What is the absolute Biggest carb I can get for this 345, that will not stall on angles?

If I use it as a tow vehicle.... Would still of course, like to gain more power, but Need to be able to get somewhat good Mileage.

Thanks Guys!

Dont run a carb at all. Works for both your needs, mileage and angles.

dig a hole-put both sammys in it-cover over hole-park scout ontop of hole- for sale sign in scout window.now you don't have an angle issue.

The factory 4 bl of choice was a Carter Thermoquad. Original IH versions are very hard to come by these days, but they also came on Mopars from the mid 60's through the late 70's. I think you should scour old boneyards until you find one of those fine old classic prizes, bolt it on, and go wheeling.

Did anyone else see this? Do you seriously want to tow anything with a 100" Scout? Much less 2 Samurai's?? Seriously guys, seriously...

I would also suggest against the "biggest carb" you can find. Do some simple math and calculate the air flow numbers for a 345 and you will see that you need about 500 cfm's (plus or minus 50 or so). In stock form a 345 doesn't require a huge carb... Again seriously, the 'biggest carb'?? :shaking:

Stick to Samurai's.... :flipoff2:

If he gets a big carb right away he can always grow into it and use the extra cfm later in case he bores it out to 700ci or turbocompounds it. :flipoff2: That thermoquad is a flowin mutherfawker

My boat has a V8, I'd just tow with that.

Seriously though trade your Scout for a Brat and do the V8 FI on that and tow with that instead.

How old are you kid?

You are messing with big boy toys now.

I'd say ask a man to help you throw some 1 tons under it, SOA on 2.5" lift springs, and still do mild towing with it.

Mine is SOA on 4" triangles and I'm still cutting the shit out of my front to clear my 38s. I'd still Poo Poo towing...unless you mean 2.5" wide springs.
