OK,
So who's heading down on the weekend of Sept. 20-22?? Check in and list what trails you're going to run. I'm going to register for rides 8-10. 11 sounds too nuts :D

I will be there, Dons rig is ready, Johns rig still on lift-most likely will not be done???(JOHN) Skips rig is done and being R&R for paint and final work. Tested some "NEW" rockcrawling tires this summer, good traction, nice clearance, not very goood turning radius though. check it out.

BTT,

Anyone else?? It's only a week and half away :D I haven't received any kind of confirmation that I'm registered yet though. I sent my $$$ and form in on Aug. 23, two weeks ago. Can anyone who's been to one before tell me what the deal is with confirming that you're in?? I don't want to drive 3 hours to VA, only to find out that someone screwed up, and I'm not on a list and out of $85

Thanks,
Mark

EDIT: OK, I found this in their FAQ'S, but I'm still waiting for my call, fawkers :D

How do I get to the Event?

Directions and confirmation of the event will be sent in advance to those who have signed up. We don't post directions to the events with respect to the landowners who allow us to host the event. They graciously open up their land to us only for our events and the trails are closed at all other times.

When are the trails open?

The Trails are on private property and they are ONLY open to during the BigDog Productions event schedule and are closed at all other times.

I mailed in my registration, did you get it?

All registrations for Big Dog Events are cataloged upon receipt and confirmation phone calls are made before the event to participants. With the volume of sign-ups, confirmation is made in 'blocks' before each event.

I may be there for Friday morning and afternoon, but I'm flying to New Orleans for the weekend that night. The jeep is still going to be on the lift. and figured there is no point in trying to kill myself again in getting it ready. Right now I would be happy if I could just get it off the lift and push it around the parking lot on 4 wheels.

Quote: from Jimmy "Johns rig still on lift-most likely will not be done???"

I'll be taking a few days off to come out and try and move it along a little faster.

I got a seat. It's not shot gun and it's not the drivers seat. I still have the rear seat in the 4runner. Your more than welcome to ride along.

And Frank your right. :flipoff2: I guess you can leave it in 2wd all weekend.

Going...
Judging...
Wheeling? Need to talk with Jimmy re: ring and pinion.

John's rig has now fused itself to Jimmy's lift. The chances of it ever breaking free are pretty slim. ( Sorry John )

Yea, when did you send the $$ in ? I would go anyway. Did you send a check ? If so call the bank and see if it was cashed yet. In June they had my name down twice, one said I paid and the other didn't. Just go. They will work it out there for ya. Everyone there seems to be nice.

I'll be riding shotgun in my brother's YJ. 35" MTRs, XJ D44 rear with ARB and ZJ disc brakes, Homemade rocker gaurds, bumpers and swingout tire carrier, New front cage. We only signed up for like 5 & 6, cause we didn't know if we could get everything upgraded in time. We went on a extra ride on sunday during the icebreaker cause it was early and most people left. It was our Jeep and Jimmy's CJ and another guy in a CJ. We ran parts of a 7 trail, and that was when my brother had 33's and 4.56 geared d30 and d35c with no locker. It was a blast. This will be our 3rd event, cause last year we went to the main jambo, then the icebreaker, now this. Its a fun time, and the people there are really nice. They seem to underestimate their trails sometimes when they rate them, but that just makes it more interesting. I remember TBOTB last year, we watched some real nice rigs go. Of course, there were plenty of broken parts (gotta love hearing that unfamilier <snap>) It'll be fun

It took them awhile to cash my check last time. Call them and leave a mesage and email them also. I can send you the email they sent me. It looks like a form letter that would go out to everyone.

At spring fling Don was guiding us on the 8a ? trail and we had to turn someone around and send them back to camp. They had all the equip. for the trail but the guy was just going to be winched up ever tuff part. It maybe because he didn't know how to drive

I understand the reson for something like that how did the dude take it?

its not like he has much choice. if your holding up an entire trail ride, the guide sends you back, and your vechicle is properly equipped you gotta think something is up...the guides up there have enough experience on those trails to play sheriff.

He was mad  but he didn't say much and just pulled off to the side and the rest of the group went around him. I never saw him the rest of the weekend. Don is one of the guy's in charge, so if he tells you to go back I guess you just have to listen and shut up. The trail only req. 1 locker but this guy could have used one in the front. He didn't listen to Don to much (spotting) and was getting an attitude. So it sucked to be him. If he would have listened to Don and not got the attitude I'd bet he would have not been sent back. I think the first think was the 10' cb ant. he had that was flying around and almost hit some of us.

I have run everything 6 or above in Gore (except 8A and I helped cut that one and 11) and I think that BDs consistently under rates their trails - once you know that, there is no problem- On 7 and up you really should have a winch and if it has rained recently 2 lockers is nice. But all of their trails are fun. I'll be spotting for a buddy in BoB - see y'all there.

(8a) i just ran 8a and yes you can make it with 33's but not sprung under. you would have to be winched up the 2 hills. but the creak bed was fun if you had a good spoter. my wife drove half of 8a.
