: Am I going to die?
maxyedor 12-02-2008, 03:11 AM Threw some new CVs in the Disco today, but somehow forgot to put the round thing-a-ma-doer that sandwiches between the bolts and the hub-snout back in on the passenger side. I don't want to tear it down again this week because I won't be home until after 10 every night, so I can't use air-tools and I'm heading out this weekend to chase a M.O.R.E. race and put a hundred test miles on my shocks to get the valving dialed. Will I be fine, or will I need a helmet, I have no idea what this thing does in the first place.

cptyarderho 12-02-2008, 03:45 AM If it is what I am thinking it is to keep the two pieces from rusting or fusing together. It will not explode on you, but you should put it back at some point or the next time you need to get it all apart, well.
This is the wafer thin metal part, correct? Hard to tell from the pic.

Wear the helmet, but put aluminum foil inside it first;)
HandBuilt 12-02-2008, 04:32 AM I thought it was to keep rocks and stuff from getting in between the rotor and hub on the backside...
Junkyddog11 12-02-2008, 05:20 AM like JL says it's to keep large foreign objects from getting down to the hub seals.
....just be carefull getting airborn as the truck is now a little off balance

...dude, you should NOT be using tools on anything that moves.....:D
mightymg1 12-02-2008, 05:56 AM I dont have them on my truck, and i havent for 3 yrs

Are you still alive?
It is the wafer thin thing that sandwiches in there, I'll just slap it back in next time I have the hubs off to pack the bearings, and put an extra 1lb of air in the front passenger side tire to make sure it's back in balance and try not to fly it too much.
RockRover 12-02-2008, 04:29 PM Don't worry. I took/left mine off after the 3rd or 4th broken cv. I'm still breathin.

maxyedor 12-03-2008, 01:13 AM You're doomed.....
Don't!!!! I mean Don't drive over 129 MPH!!!!!
I would never drive the Rover over 116.3mph, and by would never, I mean that's as fast as it can go.
I saw some bunnies humping this morning on my way to class and thought of you:shaking: Then I thought of the engle full of beer sitting in my truck waiting for me, where's yours?
revor 12-03-2008, 09:54 AM Bunny Porn!!! That's Alex's bag!
116.3 MPH? My 110 will do 83 with a tailwind going downhill!
Beer.... Fridge...
Ahhh no fridge yet, saving $$$$ to write a very big check when some CV's and axle show up....

From the pic it looks like the little paper POS, unless that jack is bigger than I thought. I cannot count the number of bitsI have left off my truck when putting it back together.:flipoff2:
Junkyddog11 12-03-2008, 07:07 PM ...haha..that's kinda what I figured but couldn't let that oportunity for abuse to go by unused:D
SlowRVR 12-04-2008, 04:58 PM Pretty sure that is just to redirect oil away from the rotors if (Ha!) the hub seal leaks.
