: Squirrels are put together WAY too loosely for .45 ACP

Didn't see any deer on the last day of hunting, so figured I'd at least fire one shot at a living critter on my walk out

Squirrels aren't exactly known for being sturdy creatures.

And that's half of their charm!

30-30 makes a mess of em too, but makes cleaning them much easier.

Relative they are quite tough compared to similar sized animals.
Compared to a rabbit they are made of steel.

A high powered rifle will turn them inside out.
I once tried to shoot a walnut out of ones paws with a 22-250.
I watched the squirrel under a walnut tree about 80-90 yards while I was resting on sandbag and bi-pod.

It picked up the walnut and had its back to me. I centered on the walnut and squeezed.
To my amazement the walnut flew off and the squirrel slowly fell over dead.
I was like "Wtf "
I checked out the squirrel and his entire front leg was missing. Aparently the 40 gr ballistic tip bullet must have caught the arm some where between the elbow an shoulder I was trying to shoot past. It ripped the leg off cleanly at the front shoulder.

Add 190 more grains to that bullet and they sing a different tune. This one got legs removed...not so cleanly though

why would you need to shoot one in the first place?
Guess I missed that part of fun.

They make annoying noises and go kaboom when you shoot them with something usually meant for deer.
