Hello All, I have a 1990 K2500 P/U that has horrible front end sag from packing around a snow plow all of it's life. Is there anything that I can do to bring this back up to stock level? I don't want to lift this truck to badly as this is not my wheelin vehicle. Thanks for your help. B.S.

Those trucks always sat low in the front, it will stiffen up the ride, but have you tried cranking up the torsion bars? Jack up the front end so the tires are just off the ground, clim under about the middle of the truck and look at the narrow crossmember that the torsion bars slip into, inside the crossmember is a bolt that adjusts the amount of preload on the torsion bar, give each side a couple of full turns and set it down, repeat until desired ride height is acheived or the bolts bottom out. Now, go take that brick for a ride and see if you can deal with it, if by chance some previous owner let the bars way down to soften things up you may be happy with the results. More than likely you will need a front end alignment if you raise it more than an inch or two. Also check the rear springs to make sure someone didn't install a huge ad-a-leaf and it's a rear end lift, not a front end sag.

Sagging is a pretty common thing. Some guys are finding out that the torsion bars are actually giving out. I had a three inch suspension lift on my S10, and I've gone through two sets of bars now. The crossmember is relocated, so it isn't because the bars were at an extreme angle. They just gave out... Little brother was driving the first time. He drove down one sand dune, was on the gas to go back up the other side, and the front of the truck simply didn't come back up after the suspension compressed. He drove home on the bump stops. I thought he just pounded on it too hard, until it did the same thing to me.

That's a big problem on S-10's, but the 2500 and 3500 torsion bars hold up well, I'm ditching mine in favor of coilovers and to help with mounting a divorced Ford 205, but they've never given me problems and I've jumped my 3500 on the dunes qute a few times.

Thanks for all of your advice. I haven't even looked at my torsion bars. If they 'wear out' what exactly is happening? Do I need to replace these? I don't fully understand the whole torsion system I was lost when I didn't find springs. Is ther a 2" lift that anyone would recomend?
