: XJ Junkyard lift??
UrbanFlatline 12-02-2008, 11:30 AM Doesn anyone have the specs on how much the Grand cherokee V8 springs will give as far as lift on a V6 XJ???
Ive been researching lifts but havent ever come across this before...
Also, Ive heard that the S-10 springs on the back will give around 4 inches... is that correct?
UrbanFlatline 12-02-2008, 11:52 AM By the way I did a search and the only guy to really talk about it was someone who calls himself HICK...

Haha never heard of a V6 XJ:flipoff2: but im pretty sure zj(grand cherokee) front coils give a few inches of lift
dozer_xj 12-02-2008, 12:22 PM The earlier Xjs had GM V6's in them. As for the lift... it is around 2 inches. Stock f150 coils will give you three but they will ride rough.
marvilusone 12-02-2008, 12:31 PM Normally V8 ZJ fronts give around 1" on a 6cyl XJ. Each case is different though. I've put them on one XJ and only got an inch and on another one I got almost 3". They both came off of V8 ZJ's with factory suspension, no off road or towing packages. IIRC in the rear you can use 2wd S-10 rears with the eyes cut off and the whole leaf pack added to your factory XJ main leaf. Also F-150 front coils will give you a few inches of lift in the front but will ride rough. The best option is to just buy a lift kit that is designed for a XJ. They're pretty cheap and made to perform well.

Straight six whatever... lol its a long day of tedious work blah!!! LOL:flipoff2:
F150= 3 inches... but rough
ZJ=2 inches but not so rough...
Got it...

Well with the wife on my arse right now I cant pull enough money to get a decent lift. I might just do a BB 2incher... I have some 31's sitting next to my house ready to go it... I have to get off these stock tires!!! :shaking:
MyNameIsJerry 12-02-2008, 01:00 PM Try to find a Grand Cherokee with the Up-Country package and grab the front springs from that, they should give a little more life than standard V8 Grand Cherokee springs.
Xjcrawler736 12-02-2008, 01:30 PM Haha never heard of a V6 XJ:flipoff2:
Ya they are around. 2.8L chevy V6. I had one in my 86 XJ, biggest pieces of crap ever made. I blew it up shortly after I got it.
When it comes to the springs, I would go with the V8 ZJ springs and the S10 leafs. I have run Dakota springs and they tend to work well and get about 3-4 inchs.

Did you do the dakota springs the same way the s10 springs are supposed to be done???

What year did you put it on???
what year s10 and what type of F150?
I dont like the thought of it riding like a tank lol... but the price I pay for being cheap?!?!
marvilusone 12-02-2008, 04:27 PM Just lift it like this :shaking: about $10 at Mexizone. BTW I saw this at the local flea market a few weeks ago. The rest of the truck was also done in your typical south of the border fashion. I almost walked back to my truck to get some tools to remove the dumb shit for him.

CromeY 12-02-2008, 07:10 PM i did a 87 and a 88 dunno the years just make sure the leafes are the same width and i think any 90's coils it dosnt ride to bad but its no a cloud works just fine i like it does the job for 300 bucks
redxj_1818 12-03-2008, 01:32 PM just buy 2in blocks, 2in coil spacers and cut those fenders
mbogosia 12-03-2008, 03:58 PM I have a junkyard lift. I have ZJ coils out of a V8 model, and spacers. This gave me about 4" in the front. I then pulled some S-10 leaf packs off a 96 and just mixed and matched until my fender height was close to the front. The mixing and matching was a pain.
