I have a 1990 TBI SBC motor that is about to go into a 78 FJ40 with a NV4500. I am looking for a heavier flywheel to help with low end torque. Does anyone have any P/N's or info on heavier than stock flywheels??

Chevy used a bigger flywheel in the grain trucks. I think it is something like twelve clutch plate, however you would need a new bellhousing. Their is also a 1/4 inch plate that bolts to the block for the bellhousing to bolt to.

I know that Downey makes a heavy flywheel for the 4 bangers. I was hoping to find the same thing for SBC 350's. I have tried to search through PBB and a few keywords on Yahoo, but everything on Yahoo comes back with RC car flywheels.

Can anyone help with info?

The stock flywheel is actually plenty heavy.... enough torque to break all kinds of stuff on your drivetrain <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0">

Here's a write up on an Inertia Ring. It's a 9lbs weight ring that bolts to your flywheel.
