While my FJ40 doesn't over heat on the road or trail, the interior does get quite warm, and my feeling is trimming away the inner fenders would help the heat escape somewheres others than the interior. Plus, my tires like to catch that sheetmetal when flexed-turned and I'm tired of them rubbing.
Is the "normal" procedure to just remove the spot welds that hold the inner fender to the upper portion, and eliminate everything? That seems almost too easy....or am I missing something?

I cut out pretty much everything behing the support towers that was innerfenderwell sheetmetal. Have not run it yet but hoping it will be enough...

my inners were trimmed with a sawz all:eek: sounds horrific doesn't it.
the p.o. trimmed a triangle out of them (only enough to fit the MAF V-8 headers) and although the floor gets quite warm, I dont get major heat from the motor in the cab.
would your removal of the entire well expose the motor to mud and rocks????

uuhhh....ih8mud :D
actually, not concerned about that....considering the truck has been driven in 40+" of water many many times, what kicks off the wheels won't hurt it....

I am going to get busy with the cutoff wheel this afternoon and trim everything back behind the center supports like Brett did.
I am also going to flip my Bezel and remove my Hella's :D

Here's a pic I saved of Mustard Dog's inner fender trim. Very Nice.
